Osprey Video MSS-8 8x8 is a compact 3G-SDI matrix switcher for professional routing in studios, control rooms and mobile units. Eight SDI inputs can be mapped to eight SDI outputs in any combination, with full-size BNC connectivity and a clear status display. It accepts SD, HD and 3G-SDI rates up to 1080p60 and supports Level A/B, matching mixed infrastructures. Compliance with SMPTE 259M/292M/296M/372M/424M/425M standards ensures interoperability across broadcast chains.
Operation is precise and secure. The front panel provides direct crosspoint control, ONE-to-ALL and lockout functions, while the integrated display shows live I/O status. Remote control is available via Ethernet (DHCP by default, static via utility) and RS-232, enabling integration with automation or facility controllers. Auto rate detection aligns each input without manual intervention, and the configurable backlight with sleep mode keeps the interface readable in galleries.
Supported formats include 525i59.94 and 625i50, 720p at 24/25/29.97/30/50/59.94/60, 1080psf at 23.98/24/25/29.97/30, and 1080i at 50/59.94/60, plus progressive 1080p from 23.98 through 60. The signal path preserves payloads end-to-end: embedded audio and ancillary data pass through transparently. Processing covers 8/10/12-bit precision with RGB 4:4:4 and YUV 4:2:2/4:4:4 sampling to maintain color integrity from cameras, routers and multiviewers. Dual 6–24 VDC redundant power inputs (two supplies included) and a low 7 W draw increase resilience for 24/7 workflows.

MSS-8 is an affordable 8x8 Matrix Switcher in a small 1U 19” Rackmount package. All Inputs and Outputs are full size BNC connections. The unit features an integrated status display, multiple control options and lockout functionality. For critical applications a second 12V Power Supply is included for redundancy. Pass through of all embedded Audio and Ancillary Data.
