The AJA KUMO 1616 is a compact 16x16 3G-SDI router designed to deliver flexible and reliable signal routing for broadcast, production, and post-production environments. With 16 inputs and 16 outputs, the KUMO 1616 provides robust routing capabilities, allowing you to connect and manage a variety of video sources and outputs. The device's compact 1RU form factor makes it an ideal choice for environments where rack space is limited, without compromising on functionality or performance. KUMO 1616 is equipped with an intuitive web-based control system that allows for remote operation, giving you the flexibility to manage your routing setup from any device with network access. Perfect for broadcasters, production houses, and post-production facilities.
KUMO 1616 offers the perfect size for combining multiple cameras, monitors, editing systems, tape decks and file based recorders into a seamless workflow with a compact 1RU profile and support for 3G-SDI/1.5G-SDI from 16x 3G-SDI inputs and 16x 3G-SDI outputs. Supports ganged dual and quad port routing control, allowing users to group together multiple inputs and outputs for Dual Link and Quad Link 4K/UltraHD workflows.
KUMO 3G-SDI routers support single link 1080p/HD/SD, high frame rate (HFR) and deep color formats. The routers offer network-based and/or physical control using KUMO CP and CP2 and offer a USB port for configuring IP addresses via AJA’s eMini-Setup software.
Built to the same quality standards as all AJA KUMO products, KUMO 1616 is the ideal choice for any situation where a balance of size, performance, and capacity are critical such as post facilities and mobile trucks.

Powerful Signal Management
KUMO 1616’s powerful crosspoint routing matrix maps any input to any number of outputs without the need for additional patch panels or distribution amplifiers. Use KUMO 1616 as an affordable distribution amplifier by routing a single input to all outputs. Used in this way, a KUMO 1616 can take the place of multiple distribution amplifiers.
As 4K workflows continue to gain ground, KUMO routers can grow as you do. With a simple setting change, KUMO routers can be configured for ganged dual and quad port routing, allowing users to group together multiple inputs and outputs for dual link, 4K/UltraHD workflows. This allows seamless routing of uncompressed or raw or 4K/UltraHD signals throughout a production or post facility. Then switch the router back to single link HD-SDI/SD-SDI operation as needed, giving you the flexibility to route virtually any format in your facility.
Broadcast Standard Reliability
Designed for critical broadcast, production and post environments, KUMO routers are built to AJA standards that exceed SMPTE specifications. The use of premium components coupled with dual redundant power supplies ensures the highest signal quality and maximum uptime even in the unexpected event of a power supply failure.
Redundant Power Supplies
Routing sits at the heart of your signal matrix needs, connecting one critical device to another. To ensure maximum uptime in the unlikely event of a power supply failure, KUMO offers redundant power supply options that can failover with zero disruption to operations.
Simple Installation and Configuration
Running Embedded Linux, KUMO routers are network ready and support powerful HTTP control and monitoring via a web browser - without the need for any additional software.
KUMO's USB port connection allows easy IP configuration using free AJA eMini-Setup software. KUMO's auto-detect Bonjour™/Zeroconf protocols mean that network configuration can also be automatic, just connect KUMO to your network or a computer and the system will self-configure, ready for use. Alternatively, standard network configuration allows access to each KUMO via its default IP address. Once connected to KUMO using a web browser, you can configure the full TCP/IP settings, select and name KUMO routers, name sources and destinations, and perform all operational functions including crosspoint selection and salvo execution.
KUMO routers are easily integrated with existing infrastructure utilizing the industry-standard Grass Valley Native Protocol over RS-422 or even Ethernet. Ethernet network connectivity also allows you to control all KUMO routers from any web browser on a network-connected device, ensuring you have the control you need from any location.
