Five SDI paths on a Thunderbolt dock changes what a compact ingest and playout box can do in real production. AVMATRIX TB-P51 connects a laptop or workstation to 3G-SDI sources through one fixed SDI input, one fixed SDI output, and three switchable SDI I/O ports, giving operators room for capture, return feeds, and routed signal handoff inside the same chassis. It handles signals up to 1080p60, carries embedded audio at 48 kHz / 24-bit, and supports YUY2 and RGB acquisition modes for jobs where clean signal handling matters from source to delivery.

The interface layout suits flypacks, mobile control positions, replay stations, and edit carts that need more than a simple grabber. Two 40 Gb/s Thunderbolt ports allow daisy-chain connection, while DisplayPort 1.4 and USB 3.1 Gen2 add local display and peripheral connectivity without another dock on the desk. In practice, that means one box can ingest several camera or router feeds, feed a confidence monitor over DP, and still leave room for storage or control accessories on the USB side. PD support of up to 60 W is available on compatible setups, which helps keep cabling lean in temporary studio builds.

Its driver and software environment speaks directly to applications used every day in broadcast and streaming rooms: OBS, vMix, XSplit, Wirecast, VLC, VirtualDub, and other DirectShow/V4L2 software. That opens several real deployment paths: multi-source SDI acquisition for graphics or switching, playback to external displays or SDI chains, signal check stations in post, or dedicated ingest for remote production kits. Windows and Linux support, plus SDK access, also makes sense for integrators building custom control or automation layers around capture and output tasks.

AVMATRIX equips the TB-P51 with active cooling for sustained 24/7 operation, which matters far more than brochure language once the box is left on air for hours at a time. For production teams that need a compact SDI capture and playback interface with switchable I/O, Thunderbolt bandwidth, and software compatibility that fits broadcast reality, AVMATRIX TB-P51 lands in a very practical part of the market.
