BirdDog X4E Ultra Black is a wired 4K60 PTZ camera for studios, venues and permanent installations where stable networking and continuous duty are non-negotiable. With no Wi-Fi or internal battery, X4E fits controlled infrastructures and keeps integration predictable for AV/IT teams. A 1/1.8" Sony UHD CMOS sensor delivers 8.42 MP capture with 3D noise reduction, backlight compensation and ≥45 dB SNR. The 20× optical zoom lens (6.25–125 mm, F1.58–F3.95) covers a 60° wide view down to 3.5° tele, with auto/manual focus and exposure modes including shutter and iris priority; shutter ranges from 1 s to 1/10000 s.
For live routing, outputs run in parallel via HDMI up to 3840×2160 50/60p, 3G-SDI up to 1080p60, USB-C UVC for direct conferencing/recording, and 1 GbE for IP workflows. Streaming and contribution support NDI|HX3 (plus HX2), SRT, RTMP and RTSP with H.264/H.265 encoding, balancing image integrity with bandwidth. Power and network consolidate over PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at) or 12 V DC, and a 3.5 mm TRS line/mic input can be embedded into SDI/HDMI/USB and NDI audio paths.
Motion control focuses on repeatability: pan ±170° and tilt −30° to +90° with speeds up to 80°/s (pan) and 60°/s (tilt), backed by 255 presets for rapid recalls in multicam switching. AI tracking adds presenter tracking and zone modes for lecture capture, worship, corporate townhalls, courtrooms and esports desks when the operator is also the TD. Control integrates through VISCA (serial/IP), RS-232, ONVIF, NDI control and BirdDog’s BirdUI browser interface for dashboard monitoring on the same network.
On-set signalling is unmistakable: the HALO 360° tally ring around the lens and the rear number tally keep talent eye-line correct and crews aligned in bright rooms. An always-on 2.13" e-Ink display shows camera ID and scannable access information, speeding deployment across multi-camera racks, PTZ controllers and control rooms.

BirdDog X4E Ultra
With the new X4E Ultra PTZ camera, BirdDog has launched a wired version of the X4 Ultra. It has been specially designed for studios, event venues, places of worship, and large installations where maximum reliability and value are paramount.
To this end, the X4E Ultra draws on the powerful DNA of the X4 Ultra. It features the same Sony sensor, the same image pipeline, and, last but not least, the same precision technology from BirdDog. However, all components are optimized for wired workflows. This is because the X4E was developed for fixed installations and controlled network environments where consistency is the decisive factor.
By eliminating Wi-Fi and an internal battery, the X4E Ultra is easier for system installers to integrate. Its lower price makes it easier to decide to use multiple cameras. At the same time, it offers the same professional flexibility for SDI, HDMI, USB-C, SRT, NDI, RTMP, and RTSP.
As a professional tool, the X4E Ultra features what is probably the most visible and effective tally system on the market today. It surrounds the lens with a large frame that is visible even in daylight and ensures that the actors look directly into the camera. At the same time, both the actors and the production team always know where to look in order to captivate the audience.
The X4E Ultra's AI control is user-friendly and ensures reliable and consistent performance with every shot. As demands increase, the AI functions expand and adapt to enable precise, automated control of your PTZ camera movements.
Thanks to the implementation of NDI|HX3, the X4E Ultra offers excellent network performance. The impact on the network is significantly reduced while maintaining excellent image quality, allowing the camera to be used in even more network environments.
The X4E Ultra's always-on E-Ink label is an important innovation. On the one hand, it allows each camera to be easily identified even when switched off. On the other hand, network addresses can be displayed for easy access to controls or even customizable logos (available soon) that complement your brand image.
BirdUI gives users full access to all X4E Ultra features via an intuitive user interface - from anywhere, as long as they are on the same network as the X4E Ultra. BirdUI also offers additional features such as a camera monitoring dashboard and light/dark modes that can be adapted to your production environment.
