DZOFilm Gnosis Macro 90mm T2.8 is a VV/FF macro cine prime for LPL, with PL and EF mounts included, covering an image circle of ∅46.5 mm. The optical layout of 11 elements in 9 groups yields high micro-contrast with tight control of axial CA and minimal focus breathing. A T2.8–T22 aperture with a 16-blade iris keeps circular highlights, while the 300° focus rotation enables fine-step pulls on motorised FIZ systems.
The 90 mm macro reaches a native 1.5:1 magnification at a close focus of 0.258 m (10.2 in) from the sensor plane, delivering readable serial numbers, PCB traces and product edges without diopter stacks. From minimum focus to infinity the lens holds edge-to-edge acuity across full-frame/VistaVision sensors and keeps neutral colour for intercutting with the other Gnosis macros. Spherochromatic artefacts stay low, preserving hairline textures and micro-contrast under HDR lighting and high-resolution pipelines.
The housing uses aluminium alloy with a standard front of 114 mm and a threaded M105 front for filters or diopters. Engraved metric marks are geared at 0.8 MOD for coupling to follow-focus units. The mount system is native LPL and ships with PL and EF kits, so the DZOFilm Gnosis Macro 90mm T2.8 LPL/PL & EF Mount (VV/FF) fits ARRI, RED and Canon cinema ecosystems. Iris rotation is 68°; flange distances 52 mm (PL) / 44 mm (EF/LPL) maintain back focus well.
For studio, broadcast and live capture, stable T-stops, smooth focus fall-off and negligible breathing simplify multi-camera matching, macro product passes and beauty inserts. Set-level consistency in front diameter, gear positions and rotation angles accelerates rigging, and the 114 mm front mates directly with clip-on matte boxes. When a controlled working distance, true 1.5× ratio and cinema ergonomics are required, the 90 mm Gnosis yields dependable, repeatable macro results on modern VV/FF cameras.
