Long focal lengths flare more readily than wide angles, and an anamorphic streak gains strength as the squeeze ratio rises. DZOFilm makes both points in its own primer on lens flare, and both bear on the DZOFilm Pavo 75mm 2x Anamorphic T2.1 PL & EF Mount Blue, the longest lens of the blue-coated A set. With the blue coating, a streak through it takes a blue cast, most saturated at its core and paling toward both ends.

It still has to be invited. A hard source pointed straight at the front glass draws the line; a bare bulb in the background seldom does. Landing lights on an aircraft taxiing toward camera can trigger one in an airline's brand film, while the rows of downlights in the terminal behind rarely leave a mark, so the effect is booked into the lighting plan rather than cleaned up in the grade.

Optically, this is a 2x anamorphic prime for Super 35, built around a 31.5 mm image circle and 15 elements in 14 groups. Sixteen iris blades, stopping down to T22, leave background practicals as tall, evenly edged ovals once the image is de-squeezed. Focus holds down to 0.84 m between sensor and subject, close enough for a drumstick cracking the rim of a snare to fill a music-video insert. Compact by 2x anamorphic standards, the lens balances on a handheld gimbal, so a tracking close-up of a skateboarder in a sportswear spot needs no dolly.

Mounted in PL at the factory, it comes boxed with the EF conversion: bayonet, rear cap, two screw packs, a shim set and a driver. Per DZOFilm's manual, changing mounts needs no new shimming, and a ring at the rear adjusts flange back within a ±0.2 mm range with the lens on the camera. Metric focus marks spread over 270° of rotation, the iris travels 67°, and the 0.8 MOD gearing repeats the positions of the other Pavo primes, so swapping between the three A-set lenses leaves follow-focus motors on their rods. Matte-box rings and M86 filters from any Pavo fit, every front being 95 mm; no lens data reaches the camera. Production companies pitching a blue-flare look to automotive, tech or music clients get the kit's close-up lens here, and one purchase serves both mounts in their camera fleet.
