Libec JB40 Jib Arm

Libec JB40 Jib Arm is a compact front-operation crane for crews who need smooth high-to-low camera movement and stable floating shots without transporting a large studio jib. The arm extends from 63 to 100 cm, so one unit can cover tighter indoor positions and longer travel on the same day. The manufacturer specifies a payload of 30 kg at 63 cm and 20 kg at 100 cm, which suits many professional camera builds used in television, livestream production, event filming, commercial shoots and multi-camera studio setups.

The structure is built for rigid operation, with feature notes emphasizing reduced wobble and bending under load. That matters when a move must finish on an exact frame or when heavier cameras and longer lenses are in use. The sliding arm section also keeps the working radius to around one metre, which is practical on conference stages, worship venues, podcast rooms, education studios and compact production sets. The JB40 mounts on a 100 mm bowl base and supports a 100 mm head bowl; the included 75 mm adapter allows continued use of compatible 75 mm fluid heads.

Setup is fast and direct: connect the support arms, place the jib on the tripod, then balance the system. Libec also changed the rear counterweight bar to a plug-in method, reducing assembly and breakdown time compared with older screw-in solutions. A padded carrying case is included, and the folded transport length is about 120 cm, so it fits in many production vehicles. The jib itself weighs 10.3 kg and includes a 1 kg adjusting weight for fine balance correction when changing camera accessories during the day.

In real production use, Libec JB40 works well for interview reveals, product cinematography, stage intros, venue overview shots, cooking programs, training videos and corporate presentations where controlled crane motion adds visual depth. It is a strong fit for small crews that need reliable jib movement while keeping their existing 100 mm tripod support infrastructure in service.
