Nodal precision has long separated serious SFX rigs from general broadcast supports, and the Cartoni Lambda 50 sits firmly in the first category. Built in Italy for cinematographers, VFX supervisors and studio operators who cannot accept parallax drift, this fluid head lets the camera pivot a full 360° directly on its own focal plane. The result is a support that behaves predictably under green-screen compositing, 3D tracking, LED-wall virtual production and motion-control sequences where every millimetre of optical geometry counts.

The mechanical heart of the Lambda 50 nodal head combines a graduated horizontal slide with a vertical micrometric crank, so balancing a heavy cinema rig becomes a measurable, repeatable operation rather than guesswork. Should the sliding range fall short, the orientable counterweight rod system extends the balancing envelope and places the centre of gravity exactly over the nodal point. A 7-step fluid drag with a free-wheel zero setting operates independently on pan and tilt, giving the operator tactile control on slow architectural reveals or sharp whip-pans during stunt action.

Load capacity reaches 50 kg, which comfortably accommodates an ARRI ALEXA 35, a fully kitted RED V-RAPTOR XL or a Sony VENICE 2 dressed with long anamorphic optics, cine follow-focus, remote-head electronics and matte box. The Mitchell flat base comes fitted as standard, while an optional 150 mm half-ball adapter, auxiliary counterweights and a dedicated third axis roll module let the same chassis serve studio pedestals, dollies, cranes and underslung jib arms. Pan runs a continuous 360° and tilt covers ±65°, giving extreme top-shot and whip-down freedom.

Operating temperature spans arctic locations at -40°C up to desert heat of +60°C, so the Cartoni Lambda 50 remains a reliable tool for news-magazine documentaries, high-end commercials, car-rig mounts and episodic drama alike. Its build reflects decades of Cartoni engineering heritage, and the head integrates naturally with encoded tracking pipelines used by modern virtual-production stages. For professional crews who need true nodal movement without switching to robotic arms, the Lambda 50 delivers consistent results shot after shot.

The multi award-winning Lambda 50 nodal head is the only support that allows to set the nodal position with any camera and pivoting 360° on the focal plan of the camera.

The settings are achieved by graduated slides both horizontally and vertically with micrometric cranks for extreme precision.

Movements are assisted by a 7 steps fluid system + “0” on all axis.

A smart system of orientable counterweight rods can be used when the slide run is not sufficient to set the center of gravity (CG) and match the nodal point.

The Lambda 50 head can be mounted on any classic support as tripods or dollies or used in underslung position from Cranes and Jib arms.

Optional accessories as hard case, 3rd Axis, steering wheel, eyepiece holder and additional counterweight rods complete the most versatile of camera supports.
