A documentary take can move from a view of the location to a tighter composition without a lens change. The DZOFilm Arles Zoom 25-75mm T2.6 PL Mount covers Full Frame with a 3x range from wide angle to short telephoto. Its constant T2.6 aperture avoids a change in the selected T-stop as the focal length increases, useful for recording a gradual zoom under fixed lighting. The iris closes to T22 for scenes requiring greater depth of field.

Parfocal optics hold the established focus distance through a zoom, so a stationary interview subject can remain sharp as the frame tightens. Controlled focus breathing also keeps changes in image scale restrained during a focus pull. The optical formula uses 22 elements in 8 groups, with low-dispersion ED and high-refractive-index HRI glass to control aberrations and preserve detail. A 16-blade diaphragm gives background highlights a rounded shape. Colour rendering follows the warm tones of Arles primes, helping retain a coherent look across a scene shot with both types of lens.

Focus, zoom and aperture are operated manually. The metric focus scale works with distances measured on set; close focus reaches 0.51 m from the sensor plane for foreground details or product inserts. Focusing spans 270°, allowing small adjustments to be spread over a substantial ring movement. The zoom ring travels through 100° and the iris through 79.55°. All three controls use 0.8 MOD gears, giving an assistant access to compatible follow-focus units and lens motors for rehearsed moves. Shared focus and iris gear positions within the Arles family reduce accessory repositioning between lenses.

The fitted PL mount connects to compatible cinema cameras, and an optional EF replacement mount allows the lens to serve a second camera system. Its M86 filter thread accepts screw-in ND or diffusion filters, including for exterior portraits at wider apertures.
