The mechanical package uses 0.8 MOD gears with long throws—270° focus, 100° zoom, 77° iris—for precise pulls with motors or follow-focus units. Breathing is tightly controlled, and the 16-blade aperture yields smooth, round highlights. Minimum focus sits at 0.51 m (1.8 ft) from the sensor plane, enabling dramatic foregrounds without crane-sized setups.
Optics comprise 20 elements in 14 groups optimized for uniform sharpness, controlled chromatic aberration and reduced veiling flare. This cine lens is designed to maintain focus as you zoom in or out. The Catta line reproduces accurate color and features a smooth focus/defocus transition. It features a wide T2.9 to T22 aperture, a 16-blade iris for a smooth bokeh, and a long 51cm close focus range.
True to its cine design, it has a focus rotation of 270°, a 100° zoom rotation range, and a 77° iris rotation range. The lens features a Sony E-mount, and it can be easily interchanged with optional RF, L, X, and Z mounts. Multiple accessories are included with the lens, including front and rear lens caps, a shim set, a support base, a support rod, and a filter bracket.
