In the original Vespid line, the step after the 50 was a 75 mm at T2.1. The second generation makes it 85 mm at T1.9: the DZOFilm Vespid Prime2 85mm T1.9 PL Mount. That trims the full-frame horizontal view to about 24°, three degrees less than the old 75, so faces keep flattering proportions in interview singles, narrative close-ups and beauty commercials.

Framed identically, an 85 and a 50 hold almost the same depth of field at T1.9. Only the background changes: about three-fifths as much of it fits, and a busy open-plan office behind a founder melts into soft shapes. Eleven elements (eight groups) include precision-ground DPR aspheres under multi-layer nano coatings; a floating group holds correction down to 0.74 m from the sensor. Testing production lenses, Keith Knittel found bokeh at the 85 mm's frame edges evening out by T2.8–T4 and flare tame, slightly cool. Recalibrated colour renders skin truthfully and lets highlights fade without a hard edge.

Closest focus lies about 61 cm from the front element. There a 1:7.5 ratio frames roughly 27 × 18 cm on full frame, so a potter's hands shaping a bowl fill the screen. The 300° focus throw spaces the metric marks widely for the AC. T1.9–T22 spans 65° of iris travel in even steps, which lets a motor shift exposure mid-take.

Post receives every clip with its lens values: Cooke /i contacts in the PL mount report focal length, T-stop and focus distance to compatible ARRI, RED, Blackmagic, Sony and Canon cinema cameras. Its LEMO port handles firmware now and is DZOFilm's planned link for wireless lens control. An Octopus adapter fits mirrorless bodies, though lens data stops there; on Canon RF, use Wooden Camera's PL-RF Pro, since Canon's adapter reportedly touches the floating rear group. KOOP rear filters don't fit, so ND goes on the M77 thread or in a matte box; the 80 mm front and the gear positions match all six focal lengths. The 46.5 mm image circle leaves VistaVision corners clean, and seals keep grit and drizzle out of the barrel. From a comedy special under one follow spot to fashion films and interviews, this full-frame cine portrait lens covers the tight end of a Vespid 2 kit.
