Its constant 1.5× squeeze spans 16:9, 3:2 or 4:3 sensors, preserving horizontal resolution and the oval bokeh that stays uniform from centre to corner. A generous 44.7 mm image circle covers ALEXA LF Open-Gate and every full-frame mirrorless body; edge distortion is negligible, so composition remains free from “swimming” artefacts.

Optically, the lens relies on 17 elements in 15 groups and a 13-blade iris for the characteristic “waterfall” focus roll-off. Working wide open at T2.9 lets crews hold native ISO under low-key lighting, while stopping to T22 protects highlight latitude on LED walls. Focus breathing is barely perceptible across the extended 270° focus throw. Close-ups are achievable at 0.49 m / 1.58 ft, pulling foreground subjects forward without diopter stacks.
