Its constant 1.5× squeeze maps a 16:9 sensor to an immersive 2.66:1 frame while retaining full-frame coverage thanks to a ø44.71 mm image circle (36.7 × 25.54 mm). The 55 mm focal length offers a natural portrait angle—53.2° × 26.1°—ideal for dialogue, tabletop or drone work where pristine centre sharpness must extend to the edges.

Fifteen elements in thirteen groups, including high-index anamorphic blocks, feed a 13-blade iris that opens to T2.9 for shallow, elliptical bokeh and closes to T22 for razor-sharp pay-offs. Signature blue flare lines appear cleanly even at wide apertures, giving the colourist latitude without crushing contrast. The squeeze remains constant during rack focus, eliminating “mumps” and protecting composition across 16:9, 3:2 and 4:3 capture.
