Laowa Proteus 100mm T2 2X Anamorphic S35 (Silver) PL + EF

Laowa Proteus 100 mm T2 2X puts a native 2 × anamorphic squeeze on any Super 35+ sensor, delivering a 2.66:1 canvas on 4:3 or 2.4:1 on 6:5 plates. The fast T2 aperture stays constant across the whole Proteus set, and the squeeze remains faithful from 0.99 m to infinity, so subjects keep correct proportions without the “mumps” effect.

The 18-element/14-group optical path pairs high contrast with smooth fall-off. Ten iris blades generate slender elliptical bokeh, while the neutral silver flare responds to the hue of practicals instead of tinting every highlight. Horizontal field of view is 29.1 °, breathing is minimal, and rack-focus moves stay invisible.

Engineering matches the optics. Interchangeable PL & EF mounts travel in the case, and on-board shims let assistants set back-focus on site. Unified 0.8 MOD gears, a 300 ° focus throw and 60 ° iris ring simplify lens swaps. At 240 mm L × 116 mm Ø and 2.8 kg, the lens balances on 15 / 19 mm rods; a 3/8-16 foot is installed. The 114 mm front accepts clip-on matte boxes, and a 105 mm thread enables direct ND stacking.

With an optional 1.4 × extender the 100 mm projects an image circle large enough for full-frame sensors, future-proofing your kit. Colour character, flare behaviour and gear positions match the 28–85 mm Proteus primes, so cuts are seamless from gimbal to studio. On ARRI ALEXA 35, RED V-RAPTOR 7K 6:5, live-stream switchers or LED volumes, the lens delivers a neutral anamorphic signature ready for HDR finishing.
