Laowa Proteus 45 mm T2 2× Anamorphic S35 (Silver) PL + EF delivers a pure 2.66 : 1 frame once a 4 : 3 sensor is desqueezed, without “anamorphic mumps”, because the 2× squeeze ratio remains constant from the 0.55 m minimum focus to infinity. Neutral-silver optics give crisp white streaks that grade easily in multi-camera workflows, while the fast T2 aperture sculpts pronounced oval bokeh and a smooth focus roll-off for dramatic depth control.

Seventeen elements in fourteen groups sit behind true front-anamorphic cylinders inside a robust 114 mm cine housing. The lens covers a Ø33.7 mm image circle, enough for ARRI ALEXA 35 4.6 K S35 or RED V-RAPTOR 7 K 6 : 5, and reaches full-frame with the optional 1.4× expander. Focus and iris rings share standard 0.8 MOD gears in unified positions across the Proteus line, enabling fast swaps on motorised rigs; a 270 ° focus throw ensures accurate, repeatable marks in feet or metres. Internal focusing keeps the centre of gravity steady on gimbals and drones.

Mechanical tolerances are tight: anodised-aluminium barrels, stainless mounts and a shim kit provide on-set flange calibration. Interchangeable PL and EF bayonets travel in the supplied hard case, so teams can move from digital-cinema bodies to DSLRs without a service stop. Low breathing preserves frame lines for VFX plates, and the ten-blade iris maintains the anamorphic signature right down to T22.
