Not every audio installation needs a large rack unit to move analogue sources into an IP environment. Magewell Pro Convert AES67 addresses that transition in a compact format, giving broadcast teams, live event operators and streaming studios a practical bridge between classic audio connections and networked transport. The unit handles AES67 audio over IP with support for SMPTE ST 2110-30, while also accepting and transmitting audio through 3.5 mm unbalanced, 4.4 mm balanced and USB Audio Class connections. That combination is useful when a commentator position, mixer output, intercom feed, playback computer or outboard processor has to be inserted into a modern production network without replacing the existing audio hardware.

On the receive side, the converter can take in up to 46 audio channels, including 4 x 8-channel 24-bit AES67 streams in multicast or unicast mode, plus a 4-channel 24-bit/48 kHz UAC input and one 4-channel 16-bit network audio stream over NDI, SRT or Icecast. On the transmit side, it can send up to 8 x 8-channel 24-bit AES67 streams and simultaneously encode one 4-channel stream for network distribution. With support for 44.1, 48 and 96 kHz sampling, 16/24-bit depth, PTP master/slave synchronisation, frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz, dynamic range above 100 dB and THD below 0.01% @ +4 dBu, it fits installations where timing discipline and audio integrity matter.

A major advantage in daily operation is the internal virtual audio matrix. Any analogue or IP-based input can be routed or mixed to analogue, IP or UAC outputs through the web-based interface, which makes the unit useful for remote contribution, confidence monitoring, overflow audio feeds, stream backup paths, lecture capture, podcast rooms, OB support positions and hybrid studio systems combining legacy analogue gear with AoIP transport. Remote control via Web UI and Control Hub, real-time status information and HTTP API support also make it easier to integrate into managed ProAV or broadcast environments.

For installation, Gigabit Ethernet with PoE reduces cabling at commentary desks, technical rooms and wall-box positions, while the included balanced XLR breakout cabling helps connect the converter directly to professional audio equipment. Used as an AES67 encoder, decoder and audio capture interface, Magewell Pro Convert AES67 gives production teams a precise method to move audio between analogue equipment, software systems and IP networks without forcing a redesign of the whole signal chain.
