Magewell Director One (55260) Streaming video mixer

The Magewell Director One is a compact all-in-one live production switcher combining multi-source video switching, H.264 and H.265 encoding ,...
The Magewell Ultra Encode SDI Plus Modator Module brings 4K SDI encoding into a hot-swappable, rack-mountable form factor built for the Modator 2U chassis. Each module occupies one slot in the ten-slot chassis, so broadcast facilities can scale encoding capacity without rewiring or shutting down active channels. A 6G-SDI BNC input accepts signals up to 4096×2160 at 30 fps, while a dedicated loop-through BNC passes the source onward to monitoring or secondary equipment — keeping signal chains intact throughout the production environment.
Dual independent encoding profiles let the main stream and a sub stream both reach 4096×2160p30 in H.264 or H.265 (HEVC), with a maximum bitrate of 32 Mbps — or 62 Mbps when transmitting via NDI® HX3. Up to six simultaneous streaming sessions run across RTMP, RTMPS, SRT Caller and Listener, RTSP, HLS, TS over UDP, TS over RTP, NDI® HX2, NDI® HX3, TVU ISSP, and ZIXI. That protocol breadth makes the module practical for live event webcasting, remote contribution over public internet with SRT error correction, or multi-platform distribution to YouTube Live, Facebook Live, and Twitch from a single unit.
Sixteen channels of SDI-embedded audio are captured alongside a 3.5 mm analogue LINE IN, with a LINE OUT for local monitoring. Up to eight channels encode in AAC. Recording runs simultaneously with streaming — files go to the 128 GB Micro-SD card, an external USB drive, or network-attached storage via NFS or CIFS. In live television and studio environments, the NDI® HX3 tally light function relays programme and preview status to camera operators directly from the encoding chain.
Management is handled through Magewell Control Hub or the module's web interface, with HTTP API access for integration into broadcast automation systems. The Modator chassis centralises monitoring across every installed module from one dashboard — a tangible operational benefit when running a dozen encoding channels during a multi-camera production or a 24/7 contribution hub feeding regional and national broadcasts.
