Magewell USB Capture HDMI Gen 2 is an ultra-compact, single-channel capture interface that turns any HDMI 1.4a feed into a native USB 3.0 UVC/UAC source without drivers, delivering clinical signal integrity for OB vans, fly-packs and post-production workstations. Capture 4:4:4 RGB or YCbCr streams up to 2048 × 2160 @ 120 fps; an adaptive 160 MP/s processing pipeline maintains pixel accuracy while handling 8/10/12-bit depth and automatic EDID handshakes.

Hardware-level processing in the low-latency FPGA offers real-time de-interlace, crop, up/down scaling, frame-rate conversion, aspect correction, flip and mirror—freeing CPU/GPU resources for Color, VFX or NLE tasks. Output formats include YUY2, UYVY, RGB24, RGB32 with selectable framing from 720 × 480 p30 to 1080 p60/75. Embedded 24-bit audio (48–192 kHz, up to 8 channels) is demuxed to two IEC-60958 PCM streams for pristine program or ISO recording.

The dongle enumerates as standard UVC/UAC hardware on Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS, making it instantly visible to OBS, vMix, Wirecast, Teams, Zoom, Unreal Engine, GStreamer or any DirectShow/V4L2/AVCapture workflow. The free USB Capture Utility exposes granular controls, profile presets and firmware updates, while the MWCapture SDK opens low-level APIs for integrators and OEMs.

Machined aluminium housing (92.2 × 40.2 × 12.3 mm) tolerates 0–50 °C duty cycles; power is drawn entirely from USB at < 2.5 W, so no external PSU is required. Status LEDs signal lock, error and temperature states for at-a-glance diagnostics. Supplied with a 63 cm SuperSpeed cable, Magewell USB Capture HDMI Gen 2 is the professional choice for field ingestion, QC benches and multi-platform live streaming where reliability, format-agnostic flexibility and broadcast-grade signal path are non-negotiable.
