Built for SDI capture and playback inside a production workstation, the AVMATRIX VP51 gives an operator five 3G-SDI connections on one PCIe x4 Gen3 card: one dedicated input, one dedicated output, and three ports that can be assigned as input or output. That layout suits systems that need to ingest a camera or router feed, send programme out to a monitor or recorder, and still keep extra channels available for graphics playout, replay returns or additional SDI sources. Video support reaches 1080p60, with 1080p59.94, 1080p50, interlaced HD, PsF and SD formats also listed.

Signal handling is specified at YUV 4:2:2 8-bit with Rec. 601 and Rec. 709 colour space support, while embedded audio runs at 48 kHz / 24-bit. That keeps the card aligned with common HD-SDI production standards and makes it practical for camera ingest, programme recording and HD playout from a rackmount PC. The published compliance list covers SMPTE 259M, 292M, 296M, 372M and 425M together with ITU-R BT.601 and BT.656, which is useful in mixed installations where current HD gear and older SD sources may share the same machine room.

The AVMATRIX VP51 works with Windows and Linux and is listed for OBS, vMix, XSplit, VLC, VirtualDub, VidBlaster, Wirecast and other DirectShow/V4L2 software. For webcast studios, event control rooms and corporate production spaces, that opens several practical roles: ingest SDI cameras into OBS, send a clean or branded feed from vMix, or dedicate one workstation to capture on some channels and playback on others. The control utility adds output preview, video-format selection and I/O mode assignment, so the same card can be tuned for capture-heavy or output-heavy jobs without replacing hardware.

The specification also states 24-hour continuous operation and support for multiple cards in one system. For integrators building higher channel counts, that matters. A single computer can be scaled for multi-camera streaming, lecture capture, internal broadcast or permanent venue installation while keeping SDI signals close to the software layer handling switching, recording, graphics and distribution.
