AVMATRIX DE21-4K PRO is a compact HDMI↔NDI codec for UHD routing at the edge of an IP studio. Select HDMI→NDI to place a camera, graphics PC or playback server onto the network, or switch to NDI→HDMI to feed a monitor, recorder or switcher input from any NDI source. Video passes up to 4096×2160 at 59.94/60p (UHD and DCI frame rates from 23.98 to 60). The single HDMI output acts as loop-through while encoding, or as the decoded output while decoding; operation is one direction at a time for deterministic routing.

When full-resolution contribution is required, the unit supports full-bandwidth NDI with YCbCr 4:2:2 8-bit sampling. Typical throughput reaches 250 Mb/s at 4K60 (around 125 Mb/s at 1080p60), which keeps fine detail and motion artifacts under control in IMAG and studio switching. Networking and power share the same RJ45 connection via PoE (802.3af/at) for one-cable deployment, and a USB-C 5–18 V input covers DC powering from adapters, battery plates or cart power distribution.

Audio routing solves common “last metre” issues in broadcast and streaming: pass HDMI embedded audio, or use the 3.5 mm line I/O for audio embedding/de-embedding when you need to inject an analog mixer feed, playback channel or intercom return, or extract audio from an NDI program for IFB or local monitoring. An on-device LCD status screen with Tally indicators provides fast confidence checks (source name, resolution, IP state, bitrate). Touch buttons plus a browser-based control page enable quick mode changes and remote configuration from a laptop on the same network.

In practice, DE21-4K PRO fits camera rigs feeding TriCaster or vMix without capture cards, converts a 4K signage player into NDI for corporate events, or decodes an NDI multiview/scoreboard to HDMI for talent and engineering monitoring. PoE powering also suits ceiling or truss installs where a single cable matters, while the detachable bracket and standard 1/4"-20 thread keep mounting options flexible.
