Roland VC-1-HS is a professional HDMI to SDI converter built for workflows that demand exact signal integrity. It accepts an HDMI source and generates two identical 3G-SDI outputs, maintaining colour fidelity and dynamic range. An on-board re-clocker stabilizes long SDI runs, while internal processing preserves 10-bit 4:2:2 characteristics without interlace artifacts. It handles frame rates up to 1080p60 in line with SMPTE 424M/425M, 292M, 274M and 296M, ensuring native timing across cameras, switchers and recorders.
Audio is managed. The VC-1-HS provides audio embedding and de-embedding with hybrid I/O: balanced analog on 6.3 mm TRS (L/R) and switchable AES/EBU digital on the right TRS. HDMI audio (up to eight channels at 24-bit/48 kHz) can be inserted into the SDI program (up to sixteen channels at 24-bit/48 kHz) or extracted to the analog/AES outputs for monitoring and external processing. A dedicated HDMI loop-through supports local monitoring or routing to multiviewers without affecting the SDI feed.
Integration is straightforward in trucks, flypacks and installs. Support for 3G-SDI Level A and Level B ensures interoperability across diverse infrastructure. HDCP policy is observed: protected HDMI content is passed only to the HDMI output and is muted on SDI. Operation can be set from DIP switches or refined over USB using VC-1 RCS software, enabling channel mapping and status. Clear labeling and indicators shorten setup time in fast-turn productions.
Typical use cases include feeding SDI switcher inputs from mirrorless or PTZ cameras, routing playback laptops to SDI recorders, and transporting program plus intercom via embedded audio on a single cable. Where dependable HDMI-to-SDI conversion, stable clocking with low latency and standards-based operation are required, the Roland VC-1-HS delivers results for live streaming, broadcast and corporate AV.
