Capturing expansive environments in a single frame demands optics that handle extreme angles without sacrificing clarity. The DZOFilm Vespid...
At just 18 millimetres, the DZOFilm Arles 18mm T1.4 FF/VV Prime Cine Lens PL Mount opens up a sweeping 104° diagonal field of view across full-frame and Vista Vision sensors with its 46.5 mm image circle. This is the eleventh focal length in the Arles Prime family, slotting between the 14 mm and 21 mm to complete one of the most comprehensive high-speed cinema prime sets on the market. Mounted on an ARRI ALEXA 35, RED V-Raptor, or Sony VENICE, the ultra-wide prime delivers an immersive perspective well suited to establishing shots, interior architecture sequences, and in-vehicle angles where every centimetre of sensor coverage counts.
Inside the barrel sit 15 elements in 13 groups, including two large-diameter aspherical elements — one spanning 50 mm — plus five extra-low-dispersion fluorite-grade glasses and three high-refractive-index elements. This optical formula keeps chromatic aberration low even wide open, while a multilayer nano coating with a calibrated blue tint manages ghosting and flare in a controlled, cinematic way. Sixteen iris blades shape the light into smooth, round bokeh from T1.4 through T22, and floating optical groups minimise focus breathing during rack-focus transitions — a real advantage on documentary interviews or narrative one-takes.
The 270° focus throw gives first assistants reliable precision for repeatable marks, and a close focus distance of just 0.29 metres from the sensor plane allows tight detail inserts without a macro swap. Every Arles lens shares a uniform 95 mm front diameter and M86 filter thread, so matte boxes and follow-focus units stay put when switching focal lengths on a multi-camera shoot. Standard 0.8 mod cine gears on both rings ensure instant compatibility with professional accessories.
Built from aluminium alloy and weighing roughly 1,663 g at 121 mm in length to the PL flange, the body balances well on gimbals, Steadicams, and drone rigs. A short 1.5 cm rear section allows conversion to LPL or EF mounts, broadening camera compatibility further. From low-light concert footage wide open at T1.4 to sweeping landscape plates for VFX compositing, the DZOFilm Arles 18mm T1.4 brings the optical consistency and mechanical reliability that professional large-format cine productions expect.

The Arles Prime lens series draws its name from the picturesque town of Arles in southern France, a cherished source of inspiration for the artist Vincent van Gogh. Renowned for its abundant sunlight and vibrant colors throughout the seasons, Arles catalyzed van Gogh's departure from conventional artistic styles.
DZOFILM's Arles Prime series, with its T1.4 fast apertures, captures the dynamic interplay of light and shadow, igniting fresh possibilities for artistic expression and cinematic creativity.
Comprehensive Focal Range for Diverse Creation
With a comprehensive set of eleven lenses covering ultra-wide, standard, and telephoto focal lengths, the Arles series caters to a wide range of shooting scenarios while maintaining consistent visual aesthetics.
Compatible with larger format sensors, it offers coverage for medium format cameras such as the Fujifilm GFX 50S (43.8 × 32.9mm format) with focal lengths ranging from 25mm to 50mm, as well as large format cameras like the ALEXA 65 (54.12 × 25.59 mm) with focal lengths from 75mm to 180mm, satisfying the diverse needs from independent filmmaking to large-scale film production.
Robust Mechanical, Smooth Workflow
The Arles undergoes thorough testing to ensure structural integrity. With micron-level precision, this wide-aperture prime lens guarantees smooth operation of the focus and aperture rings for precise focusing and accurate exposure.
Compact Design for Seamless Integration
Designed to work seamlessly with industry-standard cine accessories, it includes a uniform front diameter of 95mm and an 86mm filter size over the whole range. With a standard 0.8 MOD gear pitch design and consistent positioning of focus and aperture rings across the series, lens and accessory swaps require no readjustment, greatly enhancing on-set efficiency. Except for the 135mm and 180mm, all lenses maintain the same body length, further simplifying equipment changes.
The lightweight, compact design (weighing between 1.4 and 1.9 kg) allows for easy integration with gimbals, stabilizers, drones, and Steadicams, such as DJI Ronin 2, Freefly Movi Pro, and ARRI Trinity. With the diverse compatibility, it opens limitless shooting possibilities, including handheld, vehicle-mounted, shoulder-mounted, and aerial shots.
Flexible and Inclusive for Unlimited Innovation
1.5cm short rear part design allows Arles lenses to adapt flexibly to PL, EF, and LPL mounts such as ARRI Alexa Mini LF, RED V-Raptor, Canon C400, and Sony VENICE 2. Its compatibility with KOOP magnetic rear filters and various optical adapters, opening up a wide range of creative possibilities.
