Less background in shot means less to dress, light and keep clear of passers-by. That is the everyday case for the DZOFilm Vespid Prime 100mm T2.1 PL Mount + EF (VV/FF). On a full-frame sensor its horizontal angle of view narrows to roughly 20°, so a street façade twenty metres from the camera fills a strip only about seven metres wide: two shopfronts one runner can control.

Nine elements in seven groups, as in the 50 and 75 mm Vespids, carry the series' APO correction. Colour comes out neutral and complexions stay kind in tight framing, so a close-up drops into the grade set for a 50 mm master. The sixteen-blade iris keeps defocused car headlights behind a night interview round. Breathing is kept in check, so racking between two actors barely alters image size. Close focus is 0.7 m from the sensor plane, near enough for a sushi chef's blade slicing tuna to fill much of the frame in a food commercial.

Long glass leaves little margin for focus. At T2.1, a face three metres away gets roughly 11 cm of acceptable sharpness on full frame, and the 270° focus throw gives an AC enough rotation to hold focus through a slow push-in. The iris ring is long for the set, 83° from T2.1 to T22 or about 12° of travel per stop, while the shorter T2.1 Vespids turn through 58–68°. Handy for a gradual exposure ride as the sun drops behind rooftops. Both rings carry 0.8 MOD gears in the shared Vespid positions; the 80 mm front and M77 thread take the filters the kit already uses, and distances are engraved in metres and feet.

DZOFilm's five-lens Vespid set stops at 75 mm. This lens is the next step, and the second-longest in the seven- and nine-lens kits, below only the 125. Coverage reaches VistaVision as well as full frame through a 46.5 mm image circle, so corners stay clean on large-format bodies. It ships in PL, with the EF mount kit for a swap and back-focus check. An optional Octopus RF adapter mates it to a Canon EOS C80, and KOOP magnetic rear filters fit the PL version. Fully manual, this 100 mm telephoto cine prime handles keynote speakers framed from a riser at the back of a conference hall, panel debates, music video performances and narrative close-ups.
