The DZOFilm Vespid Prime 16mm T2.8 PL Mount (VV/FF) delivers an ultra-wide 16mm focal length paired with a fast T2.8 aperture, opening the door to dramatic perspectives while maintaining reliable exposure control across the full T2.8 to T22 range. Covering a 46.5mm image circle, this full-frame cinema prime lens works natively with Vista Vision and full-frame sensors on cameras like the Sony VENICE, RED V-RAPTOR, or ARRI ALEXA Mini LF.

The optical formula packs 14 elements in 10 groups — one aspherical element, three ED glass elements, and four high-refractive lenses. This APO-style construction keeps chromatic aberration tightly controlled and suppresses distortion, a critical factor at such a short focal length. A 16-blade iris produces exceptionally round out-of-focus highlights, lending bokeh a smooth, organic character that complements narrative and commercial cinematography. Focus breathing stays minimal, preserving frame stability during rack-focus pulls.

The DZOFilm Vespid 16mm shares the same 80mm front diameter as every other lens in the Vespid Prime series, so swapping focal lengths on set requires no matte-box or follow-focus repositioning. A 270° focus throw offers fine-grained control for precise marks, while the 50° iris rotation lets operators make smooth exposure transitions mid-take. Standard 0.8 mod cine gears on both rings ensure immediate compatibility with wireless lens motors and mechanical follow-focus units. The magnetically attached rear filter holder accepts ND filters, letting you manage exposure without altering depth of field.

Shipped with an interchangeable PL mount, the lens connects directly to PL-based cine cameras. An optional EF mount is available separately, and through the DZOFilm Octopus adapter system the lens also fits Sony E, Leica L, Canon RF, and Nikon Z bodies. At roughly 930 grams with a compact aluminium-alloy housing, it suits gimbal work, drone payloads, and run-and-gun documentary shoots. A close focus distance of 0.25 metres from the sensor plane adds storytelling range — cinematographers can shift from sweeping wide shots to intimate close-up detail in a single take.
