FieldCast 2Core SM Hybrid Heavy Duty 100m on Drum Fiber Cable

Making a camera position live takes one movement with this drum: the optical and the electrical contacts sit behind the same screw cap, so glass and copper mate together or not at all. Both ends carry the same male FieldCast 2Core Hybrid connector, so either end can face the camera and no one reads a label before pulling it out. Threaded home, the cap closes over the contact face and the mated pair holds IP67 to EN 60529, the grade that counts outdoors, not in a rack.

Two cores of protected single mode 9/125 fibre carry the picture side. Through the matching hybrid chassis connector the drum breaks out to a short LC Duplex fanout, landing on the LC singlemode ports of a FieldCast multiplexer, an ATEM Studio Converter or a Talkback Converter 4K. HD and 4K transport run one way, camera control returns the other, and since the glass is single mode the hundred metres on the barrel sit far inside the optical limit — distance is a logistical question here, not a technical one.

What separates the FieldCast 2Core SM Hybrid Heavy Duty 100m from an all-optical drum is the copper beside the glass. Two conductors, marked with red rings against the yellow pair that identifies single mode, carry a 24 V DC supply from a FieldCast power box, split four ways by a Power Panel One. Adapter Two Hybrid feeds a Blackmagic Studio Camera, Adapter One Hybrid an ATEM Camera Converter; both passive, so nothing between panel and camera needs cooling or firmware. A camera on an arena catwalk, a fixed position at a distant golf green or a lectern angle at the back of a hall then runs all day with no battery rotation to plan.

Mechanically it stays a field cable: a heavy duty tactical sheath over the assembly, wound on a Schill GT310 drum whose brake and strain-relieved infeed let one person pay it out and recover it. Where a position sits further off, the hybrid coupler joins two drums and doubles the reach with nothing re-terminated: coupler, chassis connector and camera adapter share one mating face, so a drum bought today meets a panel fitted years ago. Ring coding keeps a mixed store honest — beside multimode and all-dielectric drums, one look says which is in hand before patching.
