Getting mains power to a PTZ camera clamped onto a truss or bolted to a stadium gantry is the part of a rig that quietly eats the most hours. FieldCast Fiber Node One takes that job off the schedule. It is the local station in a four-camera fibre chain, standing within 100 metres of the camera positions and collecting one FieldCast 2Core SM Hybrid cable from each PTZ Monk converter. Video, control data and camera power share those runs, so nothing at height needs a socket, an adapter or a separate coax pull.

The four fibre inputs land on colour-coded chassis connectors, two yellow dots marking the single-mode pair and two red ones the power conductors — the kind of detail that pays off at two in the morning during a strike. Each channel breaks out across eight 75-ohm BNCs as dual 3G-SDI outputs, letting a switcher and a multiviewer run from one camera without a distribution amplifier. Nothing is compressed and nothing is reframed on the way through: the unit carries up to 2.97 Gb/s and every SD and HD standard through 1080p60, under SMPTE 259M, 344M, 292M and 424M.

Control travels the same fibre. All four camera Ethernet channels surface on one front-panel RJ-45 port, running 1 Gigabit over 1000Base-T and 1000Base-SX/LX to IEEE 802.3ab and 802.3z, so a single controller sees every head on one network. Power reaches the box from Fiber Base One across one SMPTE 311M/304 hybrid cable, which can be run out to 2 kilometres. Fiber Node One converts it and puts 24 V DC on each of the four hybrid connectors with 260 W to share between them; each PTZ Monk then regulates that down to 12 V DC at the camera body.

That two-box geometry is what makes long distances practical. An OB van in a car park, a gallery three floors up, a studio in another building: the heavy hybrid cable covers the distance while the 1U rack unit keeps the camera legs short. Arena rigs, theatre grids, conference venues, council and parliamentary chambers, esports floors and permanent installs all sit inside that envelope. And because Fiber Node One still presents SDI and Ethernet locally, a shading position can work beside the cameras while the main gallery stays two kilometres back.

Fiber Node One is a four-channel converter device that serves as an intermediate hub for long-distance monitoring and control of 3G SDI PTZ cameras with Ethernet on board for control data.

Where to place Fiber Node One in the setup?
Fiber Node One is typically installed at a distance of up to 100 meters from the camera setup, in between PTZ Monk camera converter and the far-away-based Fiber Base One control station. Designed to work seamlessly with PTZ Monk and Fiber Base One, Fiber Node One functions as the intermediate node in a complete fiber node PTZ camera system.

Fiber Node One offers the following key functionalities:
• Fiber Patch Panel: The rear panel features four FieldCast Hybrid chassis connectors, enabling connection of up to four FieldCast Hybrid main cables—each linked to a PTZ Monk and corresponding PTZ camera.
• Multi-Channel Conversion: Converts four fiber channels into four separate SDI and Ethernet channels, allowing direct connection to monitoring equipment and camera controller.
• Signal Multiplexing: Combines video and control data from all connected cameras into a single fiber optic signal, transmitted to Fiber Base One over one SMPTE 311M/304 hybrid cable for centralized monitoring and control.
• Power Distribution: Receives power from Fiber Base One and distributes it to each connected PTZ camera, ensuring a clean and efficient power setup with no local power adapters required.

When used together with PTZ Monk(s), Fiber Base One, FieldCast Hybrid main cable(s), and one SMPTE 311M/304 cable, Fiber Node One becomes the essential intermediate hub for professional, long-distance PTZ camera control over fiber.
