The most expensive fibre port in a gallery rack is usually the one that ought to be touched least: the SFP at the rear of the converter. The FieldCast Panel One keeps it that way. Fitted directly above or below a Blackmagic ATEM Studio Converter, this 19-inch, 1RU steel panel carries four 2Core single mode chassis connectors on its face, while four bend-insensitive 50 cm tails leave the rear on PC-polished LC Duplex plugs that stay seated in the SFPs for months. Every daily plug-in and every change of camera position happens at the front instead.

Nothing inside is active, with no power, firmware or signal processing, so the panel passes whatever the optics at each end agree on: SD and HD camera links on a Studio Converter, Ultra HD on the optional fibre ports of an ATEM Talkback Converter 4K, where two panels cover all eight positions. At the camera end, Adapter One serves the ATEM Camera Converter and Adapter Two a Blackmagic Studio Camera. Any 2Core SM main cable, Ultra Light or Heavy Duty, 100 or 200 m, plugs straight in, and two yellow dots on each connector plate answer the two yellow rings on the cable.

A few details count once it is racked. Each LC tail is marked A and B, and the connected device decides what travels in which direction; for gear with separate LC simplex ports, the duplex clip comes off and the pair splits in two. Mating at the front takes both hands: unscrew the caps, turn the black sleeve until it clicks, tighten the nut, then screw the two caps together so they never dangle. If 50 cm falls short, an LC coupler and patch lead finish the run; just never fold the thin tails tight.

The same panel fronts any LC single mode equipment, from fibre-to-SDI converters to routers with SFP cages or a FieldCast Mux/Demux. Picture it in a journalism school's teaching studio where students re-patch cameras every morning, in a handball club's match-day streaming room run by volunteers, or in a hire-house ATEM fly-pack that returns from each job with only its front connectors handled. Hybrid lines carrying camera power belong on the Power Panel One; for pure glass, the Panel One is the leaner route to never replacing a snapped LC latch.

The fiber hub for multi-channel converter devices
FieldCast Panel is a 19″ 1RU panel, equipped with four FieldCast 2Core SM Chassis Connectors, ideal for using FieldCast cable in conjunction with multi-channel converter devices, such as Blackmagic ATEM Studio Converter.

All four Chassis Connectors have a 50 cm outlet at the back, with an LC Duplex connector at the end, matching the four LC SFPs at the back of the converter unit. You only have to mount the panel and plug it in to be able to go FieldCast!

Mount it, plug it in and be ready to go fiber the proper way
FieldCast Panel is just to make it easy for you to start using FieldCast. We took four standard FieldCast 2Core SM Chassis Connectors and a nice black 19inch panel, and simply screwed the parts together, as an example of how to use the Chassis Connectors in environments where 19″ racks and flight cases are implemented. Of course you can use your own panels, put six or eight connectors in a row or mix and match with other D-size connectors, and get the combination that perfectly suits your needs. Still, the panel is popular and sells better than we expected, and we decided to keep it in our portfolio and treat it as one of our key FieldCast products! FieldCast Panel, with its 50 cm long outlets, can be mounted anywhere near Studio Converter or Talkback Converter 4K, or for that matter any other device using LC single mode connectivity. And if the outlets are too short you can use low cost LC adapter and patch cable to go any length.

Features

Robust 19″ rack mount panel, steel with black finish, 1RU in height, to be mounted directly above or beneath Blackmagic Design Studio Converter™.

Features four FieldCast™ 2Core SM Chassis Connectors: now you can easily connect four FieldCast 2Core SM Main Cables straight to Blackmagic Design ATEM Studio Converter, and without any risk or any hassle!

FieldCast 2Core Chassis Connectors come with 50 cm. integrated bend insensitive LC Duplex patch cables that connect seamlessly to the SFPs Studio Converter.

FieldCast color coding on all four connectors for easy identification.

Does not change anything to the functionality of Studio Converter, but simply is a safe and sound bridge from the vulnerable LC connections to the robust FieldCast connections: now it’s safe and simple to go fiber!
