The Laowa Nanomorph 50 mm T2.4 1.5× Anamorphic S35 (Blue) PL + EF brings genuine cinematic scope to compact Super35 rigs. With its constant 1.5× squeeze it outputs a 2.66:1 frame on 16:9 sensors, while the blue-flare coating draws clean, blue streaks even wide-open at T2.4. Measuring just 84 mm and weighing 550 g, the lens balances effortlessly on gimbals, drones and shoulder rigs.

Its 15-element / 13-group optical block stays razor-sharp across the 25.6 × 16 mm image circle yet still delivers oval bokeh and subtle horizontal breathing. The fast T2.4-T16 aperture and 13-blade iris supply creamy fall-off, and the 42° horizontal / 18.2° vertical field of view isolates subjects without excessive compression.

The native ARRI PL mount includes shims for precise back-focus; a Canon EF bayonet ships in the box. Focus and iris rings share standard 0.8 MOD gears aligned with other Nanomorph primes, so follow-focus positions never change. Dual metric/imperial scales, hard stops at infinity and 0.70 m, plus a 269° cam-driven throw guarantee repeatable pulls, while internal focusing keeps the 77 mm front thread static for clip-on matte boxes.

Close-ups benefit from minimal (<0.07 %) breathing, and the aluminium barrel resists dust on demanding shoots. A 80 mm outer diameter slips straight into industry clamp-rings, the 77 mm filter seat welcomes diopters or NDs, and tool-free EF conversion broadens camera compatibility without adding electronics. With wider Nanomorphs the 50 mm forms a colour-matched set, giving crews a compact route to authentic anamorphic language—expansive frame width, pronounced subject separation and vivid blue flare—while the squeeze stays rock-solid from minimum focus to infinity.
