Laowa PeriProbe 24 mm T14 2× Macro Lens – Sony E unlocks viewpoints unreachable with conventional optics. The periscopic 90° front module rotates a full 360°, letting operators thread the 29 mm-slim, 408 mm barrel between objects, under liquids or through tight sets while the straight 0° module is ready for classic probe moves. Both cover full-frame sensors with an 85° angle of view, producing cinematic “bug-eye” perspectives at up to 2 : 1 life-size HD that merge scale and immersion.
A complex 28-element/19-group optical path and seven-blade iris deliver edge-to-edge sharpness across the T14-T40 range. Macro focus starts just 2 cm from the front glass; combined with the 24 mm focal length, depth-of-field stays generous, so foreground and backdrop stay readable during extreme close-ups. Multilayer coating suppresses flare, ghosting and color shift, while the waterproof tip and USB-dimmable LED ring light keep fragile subjects dry and evenly lit for tabletop liquids, food close-ups or PCB tear-downs.
For rigging, the lens body integrates 0.8 MOD gears on focus and iris plus a clutch-lock orientation ring that freezes framing. A ¼ʺ-20 (6.35 mm) thread at the tip secures micro-lights or motion motors. Helix rotation takes place inside low-drag bearings, and negligible focus breathing preserves composition through whole pulls. Weighing 770 g, the objective balances ultra-nimbly on sliders, cinema robotic arms and FPV-style drones.
Sony E mount mates directly with FX-line and α-series bodies, yielding a flat, full-frame image circle or constant coverage on Super 35 crops. Packed in a foam-lined aluminium case, the kit includes 90° and 0° tubes, caps, dimmer harness and USB leads – a turnkey tool for product spots ads, gastronomy, wildlife burrow POVs, VR, scientific outreach or VFX plates where dollies cannot venture.
