The optical block delivers a cinematic 59.9°-to-33.9° horizontal FOV after desqueeze, revealing native widescope without cropping. A front anamorphic group produces crisp silver flares that stay controlled, while the 11-blade iris sculpts oval bokeh for unmistakable anamorphic character.

Twenty elements in fourteen groups keep T2.9-T22 transmission while suppressing breathing. Precision grinding grants a parfocal path: once sharp, a 100° zoom throw glides from 45 to 85 mm without refocus. The generous 270° focus rotation is indexed in metres and feet for frame-accurate pulls down to 0.90 m, aided by 0.8 MOD gears on focus, iris and zoom rings that align with the companion 26–45 mm Proteus.

Engineered for field reliability, the lens houses an 80 mm front and practical Ø77 mm filter thread—rare on a 2× anamorphic—enabling lightweight ND stacks on gimbal or drone rigs. Internal focus keeps the centre of gravity fixed, preserving balance on steadicams. Coverage extends to a Ø31.9 mm image circle, clearing S35+ sensors; add a 1.4 × expander to reach Vista Vision.
