Eight rear-facing Gigabit PoE+ RJ-45 ports share a 240W total PoE budget — up to 30W per port — enough to simultaneously power PTZ cameras, NDI encoders, Dante audio endpoints, IP intercoms, and AV-over-IP decoders. Two additional 1G copper ports and two 10G SFP+ uplink slots handle inter-switch connections cleanly. The switching fabric delivers 60 Gbps capacity at 44.64 Mpps, with latency under 0.84µs at 10G and 12KB jumbo frame support — parameters that hold when pushing lightly compressed or uncompressed video across all ports.

The AV UI — NETGEAR's browser-based interface built for AV installers — arrives pre-loaded with port-level profiles for NDI, SDVoE, Dante, AES67, Q-SYS, NVX, SVSI, Kramer KDS, Atlona, and ZeeVee. Reassigning a port from one protocol to another takes seconds rather than a CLI session. NETGEAR IGMP Plus™ automates multicast across M4250, M4300, and M4500 switches in star or spine-and-leaf topologies, removing the need for L3 PIM routing in most scenarios. PTPv2 Transparent Clock (1-step, end-to-end) keeps audio and video streams synchronized — a requirement in Dante and AES67 environments where timing drift affects alignment.

The rear-facing port layout fits standard AV rack practice, with cables routing cleanly to the back. Alternate mounting ears allow a ~5 cm recessed installation when front cabling is the only option. Fans are software-managed and shut off at appropriate PoE load and ambient temperature — worthwhile in recording spaces or broadcast floors where noise matters.
