Running a live production floor on IP-based audio and video, the network sits at the centre of every creative decision. The NETGEAR M4250-26G4F-PoE+ (GSM4230P) addresses this directly: 24 rear-facing 1G PoE+ ports feed IP cameras, Dante microphone arrays, NVX encoders, and touch control panels while keeping rack cabling clean. Each port delivers up to 30 W with a combined PoE budget of 300 W. Two 1G RJ45 uplinks and four 1G SFP fibre slots extend backbone reach or add redundant inter-switch links.

Where the GSM4230P pulls ahead of generic gigabit hardware is multicast handling. NETGEAR IGMP Plus™ configures multicast routing at startup — no manual querier, no VLAN adjustments — making the switch immediately deployable in Dante, AES67, Q-SYS, NDI, and SDVoE environments. Factory-loaded port profiles for Kramer KDS, Aurora Multimedia, ZeeVee, Atlona, SHURE, and SVSI cut commissioning time sharply. AVB unlocks via licence for IEEE 802.1BA without hardware changes. A dedicated colour-coded AV web GUI handles profile assignment and multicast group verification without CLI interaction.

Under the chassis, a 1.8 GHz ARM Cortex-A57 quad-core with 2 GB RAM drives a 60 Gb/s switching fabric at 44.64 Mpps and 2.2 µs latency. The unit runs fanless in typical studio conditions; active cooling engages at 34 dBA when thermal load climbs. The L2/L3 stack handles 4,093 VLANs, 4,000 IGMP multicast groups, RSTP, MSTP, 802.1X, MAC ACLs, QoS, and LLDP-MED. Remote management: SNMP v1/2/3, RMON, HTTPS, SSH, Telnet, and NETGEAR Insight cloud. A USB Type-C console and RJ45-to-DB9 cable ship in the box for out-of-band commissioning access.

The NETGEAR M4250-26G4F-PoE+ GSM4230P-100EUS fits naturally in OB vans, broadcast studios, live event rigs, streaming suites, and corporate boardrooms switching to AV over IP. All connectors face the rear; standard and recessed mounting brackets are included. Whether as a standalone AV Line managed switch or an access layer within a larger spine, it delivers the protocol depth — from Dante audio to NDI video to SDVoE — that mixed-signal production environments demand.
