PTZOptics SUPERJOY PTZ Camera Controller

PTZOptics SuperJoy is a professional IP & Serial PTZ camera controller for rigorous live workflows. A responsive three-axis joystick,...
Mounted against a white ceiling or a pale boardroom wall, the PTZOptics Move 4K 12x Zoom White almost disappears into the room, yet this 4K PTZ camera sends native 3840 × 2160 at 60 fps, a certified NDI|HX3 stream and on-board auto-tracking over a single PoE+ cable. That mix explains where this colour version usually ends up: lecture halls, corporate studios, council chambers, hotel conference suites and hybrid meeting rooms, places where a dark PTZ head would stand out and where nobody plans to staff every camera position.
The image comes from a 1/2.5-inch Sony CMOS of 8.51 megapixels (8.29 million effective) behind a 12x optical zoom equivalent to roughly 25–299 mm full-frame. Fully wide, the horizontal angle reaches 72.5°, enough for a four-person panel table seen from the back of a mid-sized room; at full telephoto the view closes to 6.9°, tight enough for a lectern close-up. If the director wants more reach, SuperZoom doubles it digitally to 24x while still delivering 1080p, so an HD programme loses nothing visible. Sensitivity is rated at 0.5 lux at F1.8 with gain on, 3D noise reduction keeps the signal-to-noise ratio at 55 dB or better, and wide dynamic range copes with bright projection screens and windows behind the speaker. Six exposure modes are on hand – Auto, Manual, shutter priority, iris priority, Bright and One Push – and four of them (Auto, iris priority, Bright, One Push) now accept a 50/60 Hz anti-flicker setting, handy under LED room lighting. Colour matching gets the same care: the variable white balance covers 2500–8000 K in 20 K steps, fine enough to sit this head next to a studio camera chain. Autofocus offers selectable zones and sensitivity, a one-shot SNAP function and a focus limit that stops the lens from locking onto a desk edge.

Automation is what changes the staffing plan. None of it depends on a PC, because the tracking engine runs inside the camera. With Presenter-Lock auto-tracking the head stays on one chosen person while others walk through the frame; Multi-Target Select numbers everyone it detects so the operator can switch speakers in one click, and auto-framing now widens or tightens the shot according to how many people are visible. PTZOptics rates the 12x lens for tracking out to about 61 m, but recommends picking up the subject within roughly 13 m of the home position – worth knowing before choosing a mounting point in a large auditorium. Serial controllers can toggle tracking with presets 150 and 151. For meeting rooms there is an optional, separately licensed voice tracking module: it reads zone activity from networked ceiling microphones such as the Shure MXA920, Sennheiser TeamConnect Ceiling 2 or Audio-Technica ATND1061, recalls the preset of the seat that is talking and can cut OBS, vMix or an Epiphan switcher to that camera. For a production house billing recurring conference capture, that means camera operators no longer have to be booked for every session.
On the wired side, the camera offers HDMI 2.0 up to 2160p60 or 3G-SDI up to 1080p60 – never both at once; the choice is made in the menu or with the rear resolution dial, a detail many listings skip. HDMI handles around 15 m to a monitor or capture card without extenders, while SDI on a locking BNC reaches 60–100 m to an HD switcher with good cable. Over the network, everything runs alongside that feed. Firmware released on 30 September 2026 moved the camera to NDI 6.3, with High (1080p50/60) and Ultra (4K50/60) NDI|HX3 profiles in H.264 or H.265, a choice of Reliable UDP, TCP, UDP or multicast transport, and iris and shutter control from a compatible NDI switcher. SRT with AES encryption, RTMP/RTMPS and RTSP pull can serve several destinations at once, so one head can feed the vision mixer over NDI, a recorder over RTSP and a YouTube channel over RTMPS. USB 2.0 enumerates as a UVC/UAC device up to 4K30 for Microsoft Teams or Zoom, and line-level audio entering the 3.5 mm input, encoded as AAC or G.711, travels with every output.
Integration options are just as broad. VISCA over IP (TCP 5678, UDP 1259), the Sony VISCA flavour, certified ONVIF Profile S, an HTTP API and WebSockets cover IP control, and new HTTP calls put the camera into standby or privacy mode, which a room-control system can trigger once a meeting ends. Serial installs are covered too: 30 m over RS-232, 1200 m over RS-485, speaking VISCA, Pelco-D or Pelco-P. The 255 presets come back to within 0.1°, at call speeds from 1 to 24, and the Image Presets setting decides whether a recall restores exposure and colour or only the position. Pan covers ±170° from a slow 0.7°/s on-air drift up to 100°/s, tilt −30° to +90° at up to 69.9°/s. Horizon, PTZOptics' browser control software, comes with the camera and gives a tablet operator visual presets, a WebRTC preview and programmable zoom transition speed for smoother on-air moves; HIVE Linked adds cloud access for teams managing several sites.
Power is the least of the worries. A PoE+ (802.3at) switch port supplies the 18 W maximum over the same Cat5e or Cat6 cable, up to 100 m, that carries control and video, and a 12 V DC socket covers rooms without PoE. A gravity sensor turns the picture the right way up on an inverted ceiling mount, and each unit can be given its own device ID and reached by that name under .local, which keeps a multi-room campus orderly. The camera is rated for indoor use from −10 °C to 40 °C.
Software and switcher support is wide – vMix, OBS, Wirecast, TriCaster and Blackmagic switchers all work with it – and NDAA compliance is documented, a box some government-linked clients need ticked. The same 12x PTZ camera is also offered in three- to six-camera kits with a SuperJoy controller and, in the Full versions, a Netgear AV Line switch, next to matching white ceiling and wall mounts; multi-room projects are quoted per site on request.

PTZOPTICS MOVE 4K
