SmallHD Camera Control Kit for RED RCP2 turns each compatible SmallHD Smart monitor into a command surface for RED KOMODO®, KOMODO-X, V-RAPTOR™ and other DSMC3 cameras. The bundle delivers a perpetual software licence plus a 5-pin LEMO to 9-pin EXT (45 cm) control cable, enabling direct data via the RCP2 protocol with no adapters. The activation is tied to the monitor serial, so bodies can be swapped at will. Supported monitors – Cine 5, Ultra 5/7/10 – let one kit migrate from handheld gimbal to 4K HDR control-room without re-config. Kit includes licence card, 45 cm cable.
On the touchscreen operators get instant access to critical menus: Start/Stop Record, frame-rate 1–120 fps, shutter 0.5–360°, ISO, Kelvin white balance, LUT upload, resolution, codec, anamorphic de-squeeze, ND, fan speed, audio gain and playback – all mirrored live on camera. Touch gestures remain active, and PageOS layouts can park waveform or false-colour beside control panes. Edits write directly to metadata, holding multi-camera rigs in sync.
Setup takes under two minutes: update to PageOS 5.2+, activate the licence, connect the shielded LEMO cable, and reboot. The cable’s strain relief is rated for 10 000 cycles, and gold-plated contacts sustain verified packets. Firmware updates arrive via SmallHD Launcher, guaranteeing forward compatibility with new RED builds.
For DIT carts, virtual sets and RF links the kit trims rig weight and menu-digging. Real-time camera control from the monitor shortens takes and maximises card capacity – advantages professionals feel every shooting day.
