One operator behind a desk can now cover what once demanded an assistant on every tripod. The Atomos A-Eye Control gathers pan, tilt, zoom and complete image adjustment for a whole fleet of A-Eye PTZ cameras under two hands, talking to each head either over IP with ONVIF support or through classic RS-232 and RS-422 serial lines. Because network and serial paths sit side by side, the console drops into an existing Ethernet infrastructure just as readily as into a fully cabled studio installation.
At the centre of the panel, a variable-speed 4D joystick turns small wrist movements into smooth, broadcast-grade camera moves; a twist drives the zoom while dedicated keys take care of focus and iris. The 5-inch LCD screen shows connection status and menu parameters at a glance, so exposure, white balance and pan/tilt speed can be corrected mid-programme without anyone walking up to a camera. Stored presets snap each head back to a rehearsed framing within seconds — invaluable once a conference agenda starts jumping between lectern, panel and audience.
Power arrives from the included 12 V adapter or straight over PoE, so a single network cable can carry both control and supply — a tidy solution for mobile racks. Drawing under 5 W, with a polycarbonate-ABS shell rated from −10 °C to +55 °C, the unit shrugs off cold OB vehicles and warm technical booths alike, and its customisable function buttons keep recurring commands, such as recalling the AI auto-tracking A-Eye heads, one press away.
