Laowa Nanomorph 27 mm T2.8 1.5× Anamorphic S35 (Amber) PL + EF is the most compact 1.5× anamorphic for Super35 sensors. At 67 mm long, Ø 84 mm and 0.49 kg it suits shoulder rigs, gimbals and drones yet keeps a 77 mm filter thread and 80 mm matte-box lip. The native PL shank, supplied EF bayonet and shim kit allow fast back-focus tuning on ARRI, RED, Blackmagic or Canon cinema bodies.

The front design delivers a constant 1.5× squeeze from 0.43 m to ∞, so resolution and flare stay stable during focus pulls. Its 25.6 mm image circle blankets S35/APS-C. After de-squeeze a 16 : 9 clip becomes 2.66 : 1, or crops to 2.39 : 1 with no scaling. Moderate squeeze means oval bokeh and natural edge rendition, while the signature amber flare injects warm, vintage energy that stands out against common blue streaks.

Fifteen elements in 13 groups with advanced multilayer coatings suppress veiling glare, even with practical lights in frame. A 13-blade iris remains nearly circular throughout T2.8 – T16, so highlights stay creamy when you stop down. The lens records 70.8 ° horizontal and 33 ° vertical coverage, resolving edge-to-edge on 4 K and 6 K sensors. Minimum focus is 0.43 m, enabling close-up texture shots without diopters. Focus rotation of 271 °, 0.8 MOD gears and a tactile 70 ° iris throw give full cine ergonomics on a palm-sized barrel.
