Libec LX5 Video Tripod

Libec LX5 is a compact video tripod system built around a 75 mm bowl and a fluid pan/tilt head for repeatable camera moves in ENG, corporate and live production. The kit combines the LX5 head with RT30RB aluminium legs and the SP-2B ground spreader, so the footprint stays braced on studio floors, stages and OB platforms while still allowing rapid repositioning between shots. The spreader is foldable and removable when you need a wider leg spread on uneven ground.

The head is rated for a 5 kg payload and runs fixed counterbalance with fixed drag, a practical match for small camcorders, mirrorless cinema bodies in cages, or compact broadcast rigs with V-mount plates and on-camera monitors. A sliding quick-release plate with ±40 mm balance travel lets you trim fore-aft balance without shifting rods or matte boxes; the camera secures via a 1/4-20 mount with locating pin to resist twist when you start or stop a pan.

For operating control, the LX5 provides 360° pan and a +90° / −80° tilt range, supported by the included PH-5B pan bar and a bubble level. The 3-section legs clamp via twist locks for consistent pressure and quiet setup, and the tube profile prioritises torsional rigidity—useful when matching slow moves on longer focal lengths. Three accessory mounting points accept 1/4-20 or 3/8-16 hardware, keeping monitor arms, wireless receivers or timecode boxes close to the head for cleaner cable runs.

Specified for −20°C to +60°C operation, the system stays reliable from winter exterior coverage to hot event halls, and ships with an RC-20 nylon carrying case plus carry handle for transport. A supplied hex key allows quick removal of the pan bar or handle for tighter packing. Typical applications include seated interviews with tight framing, multi-camera conference capture, house-of-worship streaming, teleprompter support, and locked-off B-cam angles where smooth pans and controlled tilts must remain consistent across takes.
