The Magewell Pro Convert for NDI to AIO Modator Module is a hot-swappable decoding card built for the Magewell Modator 2U chassis, converting IP video streams into simultaneous HDMI and 3G-SDI baseband outputs. Each module operates independently within the rack, drawing up to 20 W per slot, and can be inserted or removed without interrupting neighbouring active cards — a necessity during live broadcasts or 24/7 playout where downtime costs real money.

This NDI decoder module processes NDI High Bandwidth, NDI HX, HX2, HX3, plus H.264 and H.265 content delivered through SRT, RTMP, RTSP, HLS, and MPEG-TS over UDP/RTP. It also accepts TVU ISSP streams. Input resolution reaches 2Kp60, while both outputs deliver a clean 1920×1080p60 signal. The SDI path covers SD, HD, 3Ga, 3Gb, and 3Gb-DL standards with reliable transmission over distances exceeding 150 metres. Audio passes through at 48 kHz, 16-bit across 8 channels on both HDMI and SDI.

An onboard FPGA handles real-time up/down/cross-conversion, deinterlacing, scaling, and aspect ratio adjustments — a 720p NDI source can exit as a 1080i SDI feed without an external scaler. Configuration runs through the Modator touchscreen, a browser-based Web GUI, or centrally via Magewell Control Hub, keeping management of ten modules across one chassis practical. Each module connects through its own Gigabit Ethernet port with DHCP auto-configuration.

In broadcast control rooms, the module feeds confidence monitors from NDI sources routed through production switchers. Digital signage and video wall installations use it to decode content from networked media servers, removing the need for a dedicated PC at each screen. Houses of worship depend on it for IMAG projection, pulling camera feeds from the NDI network and converting them to SDI for legacy routing. Mobile production units benefit from the density that ten decode channels in 2U rack space bring, keeping cable runs short and truck setups fast.
