Tucking a broadcast-grade signal chain into a body barely larger than a fist, the Marshall CV356-10X answers a recurring problem on busy sets: placing a clean, controllable HD source exactly where a full-size camera will not fit. Behind the lens sits a 1/2.8-inch progressive CMOS sensor of roughly 2.1 megapixels, reading out a native 1920×1080 frame with 2.9-micron photosites that hold detail in shadow as readily as in highlight. Sensitivity reaches 0.1 lux by day and 0.01 lux at night, down to 0.001 lux with digital slow-shutter engaged.

Framing comes from a 10x optical zoom spanning f=4.7 to 47 mm at F1.6–F3.0, stretched further by a 12x digital stage when a subject sits beyond easy reach. The horizontal angle of view runs from 57.7 degrees wide to 6.4 degrees tele, and a threaded ring accepts 49 mm close-up diopters and screw-in ND filters — a small touch that pays off when the same camera moves from a dim stage to harsh midday sun. Picture control is thorough: auto or manual focus, exposure modes including iris and shutter priority, wide-range automatic and tracking white balance, privacy masking, mirror and flip, image freeze, defog and 2D/3D noise reduction.

Connection is where the Marshall CV356-10X earns its keep on multi-camera shoots. Full-size 3G-SDI and HDMI run simultaneously up to 1080p60, so a switcher and a local confidence monitor each take a feed without a splitter. A 3.5 mm stereo jack on the locking I/O cable embeds Mic or Line audio into both streams, keeping a presenter's microphone tied to its picture. Operators steer iris, white balance, exposure and pedestal from the gallery over RS485 using Sony VISCA or Pelco-P/D, and a bundled breakout cable carries a small joystick for on-screen menu access.

The machined aluminium-alloy shell adds side impact panels that shield the connectors, something seasoned crews value when cabling gets bumped mid-event. A standard 1/4-inch 20 mount drops it onto rigs, sliders or hidden brackets, the supplied 12 VDC supply keeps draw near 6 watts, and firmware updates run in the field. For sports relay, corporate streaming or a discreet point-of-view angle, the CV356-10X stays dependable through long days.
