Marshall Professional Cameras for Broadcast, Live Production and Streaming
For production teams standardizing on PTZ, NDI, and compact POV systems, Marshall delivers consistent image science, robust I/O, and precise robotics. This overview maps key capabilities across the flagship PTZ line, premium NDI models, and the micro/POV family used in multicam studios, OB trucks, houses of worship, and corporate webcast facilities.
Flagship PTZ: CV730 Platform (UHD 4K60)
The CV730 class anchors Marshall’s high-end PTZ offering with a 1/1.8-inch Sony UHD sensor (~9.2 MP), a long 30× optical zoom (6.5–202 mm), and wide-end horizontal angle of view around 65° for tight stage framing and wide auditorium coverage in one head. Pan/tilt mechanics cover 340° pan and 120° tilt with selectable transition speeds from 5–300°/s for repeatable moves on scripted shows. UHD output reaches 3840×2160 up to 60p while maintaining broadcast-friendly fractional rates (59.94/29.97) and 50/25 for EMEA workflows.
The base IP variant output set includes 12G-SDI, HDMI 2.0, and compressed IP streaming with HEVC/H.265, SRT, and RTSP/RTMP for CDN delivery, plus PoE++ to carry power, control, video and tally on a single cable. For switchers that require house sync, the NDI/Full-NDI model adds a genlock input (black burst/tri-level) to keep multi-camera cuts rock-solid. The body footprint is roughly 23.2 × 18.9 × 18.8 cm with mass about 3.0 kg, suitable for truss, grid or gallery mounts; operating range is approximately 0–40 °C, matching typical studio and venue conditions.
Model highlights within the series:
CV730-BHN / CV730-WHN — Full-fat NDI transport for ultra-low latency and frame-accurate switching across IP. Simultaneous 12G-SDI, HDMI 2.0, USB 3.0, and network outputs let engineering feed program, ISO, and confidence monitoring at once. The genlock BNC aids complex galleries, while PoE++ simplifies rigging on high grids.
CV730-NDI / CV730-NDIW — Premium NDI|HX option at UHD60 for facilities standardizing on HX-based discovery and routing. Video, audio, tally, PTZ control and power travel over one Ethernet line; SDI/HDMI remain active for hybrid switchers and local monitors.
NDI Premium: CV630-NDI and Compact Block NDI
Where UHD capture at 30p suits lecture capture, town halls, and webcast sets, the CV630-NDI provides an 8.5 MP 1/2.5-inch sensor with 30× optical (≈4.6–135 mm) and a wide starting angle of view near 70°. Simultaneous 3G-SDI, HDMI and NDI|HX maintain flexibility between SDI routers and IP-centric control rooms. With PoE+ and tally over IP, it’s a drop-in for rooms already cabled with Cat.
For fixed positions where pan/tilt is unnecessary but reach and network delivery still matter, the compact block camera CV355-30X-NDI brings a broadcast-grade 8.5 MP sensor and 25× optical zoom (≈4.8–120.5 mm). It outputs NDI|HX, 3G/HD-SDI, and HDMI concurrently, carries PoE, and embeds analog audio from a 3.5 mm input—ideal for POVs over ice rinks, in commentary booths, or as a long-reach beauty cam in recital halls at up to 1080p60.
USB/HD PTZ for UC & Hybrid Events: CV605-U3/U3W
Teams that need a UVC-native camera for conferencing and distance learning can standardize on the CV605-U3. It outputs via USB-C, HDMI, and IP, captures up to 1080p60, and uses a compact 1/2.8-inch CMOS with 5× optical zoom and a very wide ≈85° horizontal field for small rooms. Stream profiles include H.265/H.264 for efficient bandwidth, while PoE keeps one-cable installs tidy on carts and in classrooms.
POV & Micro: CV508 for Creative Angles
The micro POV camera CV508 fits where larger bodies won’t: drum kits, ceiling boxes, lab rigs, or robotic stages. It uses a next-gen Sony 1/2.8-inch HD sensor at 1080p60 and supports 10-bit 4:2:2 output over 3G-SDI and HDMI. The M12 lens mount ships with a 4.0 mm prime (~85° H-AOV) and accommodates a wide range of tiny optics for custom perspectives. Remote paint is available via Marshall RCP or software (gain, gamma, pedestal, matrix, shutter), enabling true camera matching in mixed rigs.
Engineering Details That Matter On Set
Colorimetry & matching. Marshall’s broadcast matrix enables scene files that travel across PTZ and compact cameras, helping shader positions hit consistent skin tones and saturation even when mixing NDI, SDI, and HDMI paths.
Connectivity density. Simultaneous 12G-SDI + HDMI 2.0 + IP is standard in the CV730 family, while the NDI variants layer NDI|HX or full-bandwidth NDI for IP switchers. Many models embed audio from 3.5 mm inputs; block/NDI variants expose PoE/PoE+ for single-cable runs.
Genlock & tally. On the CV730-BHN/WHN, genlock keeps cameras phase-aligned to router sync; integrated tally LEDs simplify talent cues during live switching.
Control & presets. VISCA over IP/serial, RS-232/RS-422, and NDI Tools provide deep access to PTZ motion curves, exposure, color, and up to 255 presets. Pan starts/halts are smooth enough for stage moves at 5°/s while still capable of brisk 300°/s snaps for IMAG.
