Frame-accurate timing decides whether a multicamera cut looks deliberate or clumsy, and that is exactly the problem the Marshall CV566 Mini Camera solves in the POV class. Its tri-level sync (genlock) input phase-locks the head to house reference, so the vision mixer switches between angles cleanly, with no frame-store delay creeping into a live programme. Simultaneous 3G-SDI and HDMI outputs let one unit feed a broadcast router and a compact streaming switcher at the same time.

Behind the interchangeable M12 lens mount sits a Sony Exmor 1/2.8-inch (6.46 mm) CMOS sensor with 2.2 megapixels. It delivers Full HD 1920×1080p at any rate from 23.98 to 60 fps, with 1080i and 720p on hand for legacy plants — welcome wherever 25p and 50p standards still rule. Colour holds down to 0.01 lux, and a night mode rated at 0.005 lux captures IR wavelengths for near-dark observation. A colour matrix with style, master and colour level/phase adjustment lets an engineer match this miniature head to full-size studio cameras rather than fixing it in post.

The body is milled from a solid aluminium billet, with protective ears guarding the rear connectors against knocks on scaffolding, motorsport mounts or cramped set pieces. A 4.0 mm prime comes fitted; Marshall's M12 optics run from a 2.3 mm wide angle to a 16 mm telephoto plus two varifocals, so a single camera model covers goal-line, drum-kit and courtroom framings alike. Over RS-485, it answers to Marshall's control software or a CV-RCP-V2 shading panel from a control room hundreds of metres away, while the 12-pin Hirose breakout carries power, control, genlock and stereo audio — embedded on both outputs at up to 48 kHz.

For a production company, the running costs stay modest: 6 W of draw, a 12 V supply in the box, micro-USB firmware updates handled on site, and one operator matching a whole fleet from the CCU chair. OB trucks, esports arenas, courtrooms, parliamentary chambers and touring concert rigs all gain angles no camera operator could physically occupy.
