VELVET Start 1 Bi-Color LED Panel (No Yoke)

VELVET Start 1 is a compact bi-color soft LED panel for film sets, broadcast studios and live production where controlled, wraparound key or fill light matters. This no-yoke version keeps the footprint minimal for ceiling grids, tight rigging points, car interiors or multi-panel builds, while retaining the fixture’s integrated power and control hardware.

Color output is continuously variable from 3000–6000 K in 100 K steps with stable white balance across the range. The light engine combines selected BIN LEDs, an optical diffuser and CPU regulation to keep skin tones natural and repeatable between units; color evaluation is supported by TLCI 92 at 3200 K and TLCI 95 at 5600 K. The panel is rated IP41 for dust-protected studio environments.

At 5600 K the fixture reaches 2070 lux at 1 m (and 257 lux at 3 m) with a wide 100° beam, giving even coverage for interview setups, tabletop product work, beauty lighting, corporate streaming and small background washes. Output is adjustable from 0–100% with smooth, flicker-free dimming and a high-speed friendly 2000 fps output frequency for fast shutter angles and slow-motion acquisition. In multi-camera talk shows and webcast panels, the native diffusion keeps shadow edges soft and reduces specular highlights on glasses.

Local operation uses shock-resistant buttons and a display, while integration into control networks is handled via DMX-RDM on XLR-5 in/out, including master/slave linking for multi-unit operation without a console. Power draw is only 50 W; the built-in PSU accepts 90–264 VAC and locks via Neutrik PowerCon TRUE1 TOP. Silent reliability comes from fan-free passive cooling and a one-piece aluminum heatsink; LED life is specified at >50,000 h (L70) and >35,000 h (L80), with operation from -20 to +40 °C. Optional SnapBag, Snapgrid and barn doors support spill control for talent, products and small sets.
