An 8K acquisition pipeline and a broadcast-grade IP output share a single fanless aluminium body in the Z-CAM E2-F8 Mark II — no external encoder, no conversion rack. Its 61.17-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor (35.9 × 24.0 mm) records 8192 × 3456 at 30 fps, holds 14 stops of dynamic range, and the dual native ISO of 400 and 1250 keeps a festival stage at dusk as clean as a lit studio floor.

On the network side, the camera behaves like a native source in the video matrix. A 10-bit NDI feed with very low latency travels over Gigabit Ethernet next to RTMP, RTMPS, RTSP and SRT, all set up from the built-in web client, while PoE+ (802.3at) carries power and signal through one cable — a detail riggers value on trussed multicam positions. BB and tri-level genlock plus LTC timecode enter via BNC, and Z CAM EzLink holds an entire camera grid within 0.5 ms of sync.

Recording lands on CFexpress Type B cards: ZRAW, the full ProRes 422 family and 10-bit H.265 internally, or 12-bit ProRes RAW to an Atomos Ninja V and Blackmagic RAW to a Video Assist over HDMI 2.0, which also outputs 4K DCI 60p in 10-bit 4:2:2. A 3G-SDI port feeds monitoring or a vision mixer at the same moment. Z-Log2, HLG and 12-axis colour correction shorten camera matching across a fleet, and the gyroscope writes motion data for stabilisation in post — useful when an 8K master gets reframed into several 4K deliverables.

Production companies count operating hours, so the numbers matter: 18 W maximum draw, convection cooling with zero moving parts, mini V-Lock packs, 12–18 V DC input and a regulated 12 V output for a focus motor or monitor. The EF mount locks actively and swaps to PL, LPL or M as the lens inventory dictates; LANC, a serial port and an open API tie the Z-CAM E2-F8 Mark II into robotic heads and remotely operated studios. One body covers cinema and live duty, and the rental sheet stays short.
