ZILR settled on lithium iron phosphate cells — a 32700 format in an 11S arrangement — because carts live a rougher life than camera batteries. The chemistry shrugs off heat, resists deep-cycle wear and is rated for more than 5,000 charges, 3,000 of them above 85 percent of original capacity. With 422.4 Wh on board (36 V, 12 Ah), the ZIPR 2WD covers up to 30 km per charge, while the 4WD model manages 15 to 20 km depending on drive mode. A recharge takes about three hours at 6 A, so the pack that ran the morning load-in is ready again before the afternoon strike.

An onboard battery management system watches voltage, current, draw and temperature, stepping in against short circuits, overcharge and overvoltage. One button press lights the LED level gauge — a five-second reserve check before call time. The housing also carries a switchable rear light for dim backstage corridors and a USB-A port (5 V / 10 W) that keeps a phone or wireless receiver topped up between runs. Left idle, the pack sleeps after ten minutes and powers down after an hour; a port cover and carry bag come along for transport days.
