Camera operators planning multi-camera live productions get a PTZ head that finally combines broadcast-grade optics with a complete auto-tracking solution. The Canon CR-N300 Black Auto Tracking ships with the paid RA-AT001 license already activated, so the unit leaves the box ready to follow speakers, presenters, panellists, and stage performers without an external processor sitting in the rack. Its 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor paired with the DIGIC DV6 engine produces 4K UHD recording up to 30p and Full HD up to 59.94p, with low-light sensitivity around 1.5 lux for venues where stage lighting can dip during transitions.

At the front sits a 20x optical zoom (f = 3.67–73.4 mm, F/1.8–2.8) paired with 20x digital zoom, an eight-bladed circular iris, and a built-in gradation ND filter reaching 1/8. The hybrid autofocus blends contrast detection with high-speed phase detection, locking onto a moving subject quickly enough for keynote walks, classroom demos, and corporate Q&A panels. A high-precision pan-tilt mechanism covers ±170° horizontally and -30° to +90° vertically, with speeds running from 0.2° up to 300° per second.

The CR-N300 is built around a serious set of professional connectors: 3G-SDI, HDMI, USB Type-C, RJ45 1000Base-T, RS-422 control, gen-lock, and a stereo mini-jack mic input. NDI|HX, SRT, RTMP/RTMPS, RTSP/RTP, FreeD, and Canon's XC protocol slot the camera straight into vMix, OBS, TriCaster, or similar IP switchers. PoE+ over one LAN run (IEEE 802.3at) carries video, power, tally, and control — useful for ceiling installs and mobile flypacks where DC outlets are scarce.

The bundled full Auto Tracking Application unlocks production-grade options rather than the Lite tier: manual or automatic subject selection, ten sensitivity levels, five user-saved tracking presets, plus Multi-Person, Face Direction, and Sit/Stand framing modes. One operator can supervise several CR-N300 heads from a single RC-IP100 controller while each camera handles subject composition on its own — a measurable reduction in crew hours per show day.

Hybrid AF for precise focus
The CR-N300 combines high-precision contrast AF with high-speed phase-detection AF, ensuring rapid and accurate focusing of the subject, even in low light conditions. Equipped with a bespoke external sensor which measures the distance to the subject and compares the point of focus with that determined by the Contrast AF system. This Hybrid AF system is particularly effective in low light situations and provides fast, accurate and reliable Autofocus with greater accuracy than Contrast AF alone.
