Furukawa's datasheet for the TV-OM-AMS gives this cable four separate duties: fixed installation inside a building, relay runs, handheld camera work and patching. Ordering the FieldCast SMPTE PUW-FUW 200m without a drum leans on the first of those. Supplied as a coil, the length disappears into a riser between two technical floors and stays put, feeding an ice rink camera position or a conference auditorium several storeys below its equipment room.

Underneath the abrasion-resistant black sheath, SMPTE 311M construction strands everything around a galvanised steel member rated to 700 N of pull, with a tinned copper braid at 85 % optical coverage and polypropylene filling the voids. It bends to six times its own diameter and no tighter. Furukawa qualifies the cable from −20 °C to +75 °C, so a January gantry and a hot studio grid both sit inside the envelope.

The optical path is two protected single mode 9/125 cores at 1310 nm, specified at 0.5 dB/km. Across 200 m that spends a tenth of a decibel, which puts the link budget at the end faces rather than in the run. Six tinned copper conductors travel alongside, four carrying power and two carrying control and data, the braid holding shielding effectiveness at 95 dB at 10 MHz. Paired with a Blackmagic Camera Fiber Converter and its studio counterpart, one line sends 12G-SDI up to 2160p60, brings back three independent HD return feeds, and adds dual-channel talkback, tally, camera control and camera power over a span the pair rates to 2 km.

Both ends are Lemo 3K.93C to SMPTE 304, an FUW plug at one and a PUW socket at the other, push-pull latching, sealed to IP68 and wrapped in gaiters at the strain relief. Stainless steel shells are rated at 20,000 mating cycles, the figure that counts on a cable rigged and derigged every week. Because the ends differ, a second length mates straight onto the first and doubles the reach with no junction box, which earns its keep on a surgical relay running from an operating theatre to a teaching auditorium. Runs of 20, 30, 50, 100 and 150 m share the build, and FXW and EDW breakout adapters take the line to LC where it meets a building's own single mode fibre.
