Standardising a camera department on the DZOFilm Catta Zoom 3-Lens Kit (18-35/35-80/70-135 T2.9) Black Sony E Mount means one lens platform from 18 to 135 mm instead of three unrelated zooms. All three are full-frame cine zooms: an image circle of 43.5 mm, a constant T2.9, iris closing to T22. The wide and standard models meet at 35 mm, and the standard and telephoto overlap from 70 to 80 mm, so a camera can change lenses without jumping to a different shot size.

That logic carries through to the rig. Focus rotates 270° and zoom 100° on all three, the iris 77°, 75° or 80°, and every ring wears 0.8 MOD gears in the same position, so motor brackets set up for one zoom suit the next. One 80 mm clamp-on matte box and one set of M77 screw-in filters serve the trio. A rear slot takes optional Catta COIN inserts (ND, Black Mist, streak or star), useful on a vehicle mount where a front matte box would catch the wind. One foam-lined hard case holds the three zooms, each with caps, shims, a support base and a rod.

At a streamed esports final, an FX9 on a pedestal 10 m from the stage holds about 20 m of set at 18 mm. The 35-80 tightens from a team booth to one player's face, and from the back of a 25 m hall the 70-135 at 135 mm frames the casters' desk in a shot about 6.7 m wide. Shimmed to their cameras, the lenses stay parfocal, so a director can call a push-in on air. Breathing is minimal; racking from a player to the monitor behind him keeps the composition steady. At 0.51 m from the sensor, the 18-35 gets close to hands on a controller.

Optically the set reads as one. Built from 20 elements in 14 groups, 20 in 15 and 17 in 11, the three share a neutral palette and true-to-life skin tones, so camera shading and the grade carry over between angles. Behind the players, LED panels melt into soft circles thanks to a 16-blade iris. Composite barrels of polycarbonate and glass fibre keep an FX3A gimbal build or a car rig light. The native Sony E mount swaps tool-free for RF, L, X or Z bayonets sold separately, so the same three zooms can be booked out on Canon, L-Mount, Fujifilm or Nikon bodies. Fully mechanical, they send no lens data to the recorder.
