Kinefinity E Mounting Adapter

Lens choice can determine whether a camera package stays compact or becomes needlessly complex. The Kinefinity E Mounting Adapter gives KineMOUNT cinema cameras a direct mechanical interface for Sony E-mount lenses, including manual still and cine optics. The short-flange layout accepts compact E-mount glass without an external block or cable, keeping gimbal, drone, vehicle-rig and handheld builds close to the body. Compatibility covers KineMOUNT configurations across MAVO Edge, MAVO mark2 and VISTA, plus earlier MAVO and TERRA cameras.

Mount security matters once a focus motor applies torque. Rather than rely on lens rotation alone, the adapter uses a cine-style breech lock: its ring turns counter-clockwise and clamps the lens with a PL-like action. Repeatable seating benefits manual follow focus, lens motors and compact zooms, where bayonet play can disturb marks. The adapter connects directly to KineMOUNT with precise positioning, wrench/lever locking and no support block, lead or power feed. Its structure combines steel, aluminium alloy and engineered polymer.

This is the passive E-mount adapter, not Kinefinity's Active E Mount. It contains no electronic contacts and does not pass iris, focus, zoom, optical stabilisation or lens metadata between camera and lens. Select optics whose aperture and focus operate mechanically; electronically dependent Sony G-series lenses and other E-mount lenses requiring camera protocol are not suitable for normal use. Third-party E-to-EF or E-to-PL stack adapters, as well as modified E lenses, may also fail to seat or function, so compatibility should be checked for the exact lens before production.

Manual E-mount cinema lenses make the strongest case for this adapter. Fujinon MK18-55 and MK50-135 are documented examples of compact cine zooms it accommodates. Such a package suits travel units, stabilised moves, vehicle rigs and aerial shots. With no electronics at the interface, exposure, focus and zoom remain operator-controlled at the lens. The trade-off is explicit: crews gain a small, cable-free camera package and rapid mount changes while retaining entirely mechanical lens operation.
