Matrox QuadHead2Go Q185 is a system-independent video wall controller built for teams that need one reliable input split across four screens without asking a media player or GPU to do the heavy lifting. Feed it with DisplayPort 1.2 up to 3840×2160 at 60 Hz (also ultra-wide inputs such as 7680×1080) and it outputs four synchronized HDMI signals, letting an operator treat a 2×2 wall as one canvas while keeping each panel locked to frame.

In live production, broadcast graphics and streaming stages, Q185 becomes the “set-and-forget” layer between a render machine and the wall: bezel management keeps tickers and lower thirds continuous, while per-output rotation (90/180/270°), cropping and scaling help match portrait panels, LED processors or odd aspect ratios. Preset layouts (2×2, 4×1, 1×4, 3×1, 2×1, 1×2, 1×3) can be recalled fast, so a control room can jump from a quad monitoring grid to a long ribbon wall during a show. Clone mode and stretched-desktop behaviour make it practical with switcher multiviewers, replay servers and playout PCs.

Signal integrity stays predictable: the Q185 accepts RGB 8:8:8 and YUV 4:4:4/4:2:2 inputs, then outputs RGB 8:8:8 for clean text and sharp UI elements. It supports HDCP sources when protected content must be displayed, and it can pass embedded audio as AAC or PCM (stereo/mono) depending on the system.

Install time is where it earns its keep. On-device buttons and built-in test images let you validate cabling and panel order even before the source is connected. Over Gigabit Ethernet, the unit can be configured and updated remotely, using DHCP by default or static addressing in managed networks. The free Matrox PowerWall software adds offline configuration plus fine placement control, and integrators can request a REST API option for custom UIs and automation—useful for studios, monitoring, events and digital signage that must come up exactly the same way every time.
