The Magewell Modator Chassis 2U is a rack-mountable modular platform for professional IP video and audio conversion in broadcast, live production, and streaming setups. This 2RU chassis holds up to ten independently operating hot-swappable modules, letting engineering teams mix encoders, decoders, and audio converters in a single unit. Whether a facility ingests ten HDMI or SDI sources into an NDI-based infrastructure or decodes IP streams to baseband for monitoring walls, the Modator 2U consolidates signal paths without standalone boxes cluttering a rack.

Each slot delivers up to 20W and has its own RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet port, so every channel keeps an independent network path. Compatible modules include the Pro Convert HDMI 4K Plus encoding up to 4096×2160 at 60fps in 4:4:4 10-bit colour, the Pro Convert SDI Plus handling 3G-SDI up to DCI 2K, and the Pro Convert AES67 bridging analog audio with AES67 and NDI streams. That makes the chassis equally at home in a mobile production truck or on a corporate campus distributing digital signage over IP.

Dual hot-swappable power supplies accept 100–240V AC, keeping operations running during a PSU failure — critical for 24/7 news desks or medical video distribution. Five variable-speed fans hold temperatures in check from 0°C to 50°C. A 4.8-inch LED touchscreen on the front panel provides instant status readings and per-module configuration.

Remote administration scales through the built-in web interface or Magewell Control Hub for multi-chassis deployments across distributed sites. Control Hub handles batch firmware updates, centralized parameter tuning, and live health monitoring — a clear advantage when dozens of Modator units serve a broadcast campus or a nationwide streaming relay network.
